It can be done and is done in Finland, or at least Helsinki -- there are a bunch of stands where you can get a salmon soup by the docks. I think a would-be soup vendor in, say, burgerland, is up against cultural expectations about soup, namely that it comes in cans and sucks and you only eat it when you're sick.

What's frustrating is how he's not like my folks, near the same age. They're getting their steps in, adjust to European time as fast as anyone else and one can go full-on Putin with the history lectures, nailing detail after detail with no regard to how late it's getting. And yet the media portrays the concern about his brain being pudding as ageism. It's not about old people in general, it's about this particular old fuck who doesn't know which Biden he is.

Nobody in charge of this message has ever had a real job. If I showed up to represent an organization and ate shit like that, I'd have a morning appointment with my boss and it wouldn't even be a long one. If, in that brief window, I floated that I ate shit because I knew I was incapable of doing anything but that and showed up anyway without warning anyone, they'd start looking through the manual for a way to fire somebody twice.

Obama's word shouldn't be taken as final. There's no way he'd allow even the tiniest chance of publicly supporting Biden dropping out only for Biden to go on and somehow win. If Biden is to step aside, he'll at least allow him the dignity of claiming it was his own decision. I expect there will be a discussion between all the key players and it could take a little planning to arrange that without revealing that they're sitting down to discuss this very topic. Bonus points if they schedule it at 9 so night Joe can attend.
