I feel the need to remind people that the concept of the ecological footprint was invented by BP to direct the focus of climate fears away from large corporations and onto individuals.

Well, I did say needlessly hostile. I definitely didn't mean that you should treat actually vile people with velvet gloves.

I'm talking more about the overall culture on Reddit where you'd have someone making some innocuous mistake and getting torn into it for it.

Although, yeah, that does also extend to general disagreements that tend to take on raised hairs where it really isn't warranted. Like, just of the top of my head, what happens whenever someone discusses the viability of nuclear power.

Probably the biggest one would be needlessly hostile or mocking responses.

Is it really that dumb though? Small instances might provide a better experience until they close down.

Personally I tend to use my bike moreso to get from place to place than just for leasure. Although I've also been exploring various side-streets lately, mostly to figure out what the best routes are that minimize my risk of getting run over.

I think there should be some bicycle-specific communities somewhere on Lemmy as well, you might enjoy those. Although I only really know about the German one.

Lucky you. Half my wishlist is games that aren't even out yet.

I honestly really like this idea. I would've been a fan of the model where copyright just outright can't be transferred from actual creators to a company, but that creates massive problems for collaborative works that don't have a single one creator. This model of giving individual creators lifelong copyright nicely addresses that problem.

It's gonna be a darn shame if users on the biggest lemmy instance won't be able to interact with beehaw or even see it. I understand your meaning, though, my most unpleasant interactions on lemmy have been with users from lemmy.world

I hope sometime in the near future, you'll be able to federate with them again.

Oh, is that why lemmy.world has such a long list of federated instances? That would explain it. I'll fully admit, I just Ctrl-F'd for lemmygrad on the instance list after noticing that it's not on the blocklist when it's blocked on most other instances.

I suppose you're right, though that's quite involved when all I want is to host an image.

Is pixelfed really a good way to prevent dead links? I don't know much about it other than that it's part of the fediverse, so I'd assume any pictures hosted there last only as long as the instance they're posted to.
