Biden nor trump have been diagnosed with dementia. Mental decline in both of them feels obvious, but suggesting either of them have a diagnosis that they never actually received isn't cool

Pics or it didn't happen

Who/what is this? I've seen a few memes but no explanation...

Italy has always been a bit odd - I remember a group of scientists were convicted of manslaughter because they didn't predict an earthquake that killed a few hundred people.

I agree the question is a bit far fetched, at best - but that's no reason to be mean

I didn't realize "dad" was a German word

U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty, a Trump appointee, said the child — identified in court papers by the initials “V.M.L.” — appeared to have been released in Honduras earlier Friday, along with her Honduran-born mother and sister, who had been detained by immigration officials earlier in the week

Lawyers for the guardian told the court that V.M.L.’s father had been attempting to contact the girl’s mother to discuss plans for their child but ICE officials denied him the chance to have a substantive phone call. He says ICE allowed the two to speak for about one minute on Tuesday, while the mother was in ICE custody, but that they were unable to make any meaningful decisions about their child.

"The guardian" in that quoted paragraph refers to a friend of the girl's father, who he sent to pick up his daughter from the ICE detention center

Yeah, another commenter linked the part of the 12th amendment that says anyone constitutionally ineligible to run for president may not run as VP. That's quite a relief

[–] paranoid@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I did not know that, thank you. That provides at least some relief!

I read somewhere that his only "legal" option for becoming president for another term is by running as the vice presidential candidate, and then having whoever was voted for president resign. He wouldn't technically be elected to the presidency, and thus could exploit a loophole.

That being said, I'm certain it would be challenged in court. The fact that it could even get that far is pretty disheartening

Edit: as someone pointed out in the replies, this would not be allowed under the 12th amendment

Thanks for sharing! I was using Ableton before the pandemic, then had to take a break after my son was born. I went back to it a few months ago and what I purchased wasn't transferrable to a version that worked on my computer 😡. I love learning about open source tools like this, and I'll definitely be checking them out. Thanks for sharing!

Hello friends, I'd like to take over as the mod for !masseffect@lemmy.world since the current mod seems to be inactive - there have been no comments, posts, or mod actions in two years from the current mod, @ChampagneEquinox@lemmy.world.

I chose the picture that shows the fewest mistakes 😆

It's made from maple with a red oak cutting board from these plans

I didn't find out red oak isn't good for cutting boards until after it was made, so I'll have to remake it some day. The good news is that it will only be used for cutting bread, so I think any bacterial growth will be pretty minimal
