It is a book. China turned it into a faithful-to-the-book TV series in 2023. It is available in the USA on Amazon Prime Video.

So I’m totally taken in by the Chinese series Three Body. Technically it fits the description of “humans interacting with aliens” but nothing like Star Trek. Well, humans are united & at peace with each other but boy-howdy is it dark stuff when it comes to alien-human interaction. And it’s hard sci-fi. Like, the aliens will take centuries to get here.
Or CJ Cherryh's Alliance Union universe (a good entry point is Downbelow Station, a good overview of the universe)
I didn’t see this before posting my own comment about The Faded Sun trilogy by her. It’s in the same universe
I’ve been listening to The Fade. Sun trilogy audiobook by C J Cherryh.
The best way to describe it in Star Trek terms is if imagine that Kazon were hired by Romulans to act as mercenaries to fight the Federation. Except the Romulans are giant blobs. And the story is mainly told from the Kazon perspective.

Yes! I was like:
If you are reading this release, your shoulders —my shoulders what?! There should be a verb here! What does she know about my shoulders? What kind of press release is this? Oh, I give up.
All the comedy genius came from Paul Mooney’s writing.
No. I want to VR the detectives role and interact with Mary Astor, Sydney Greenstreet & Peter Lorre. Problem is I’ll almost certainly wind up Mary’s patsy at the end, and it’ll be my neck in the noose in SingSing
Music from two bands in the DC area from the 90s. Testicular Momentum and Scooter Trash. Searchs for these bands are more likely to turn up results for testicular torsion or scooter rentals in Washington than the bands.
Testicular Momentum is proper original industrial music from before Nine Inch Nails stole the name for a pop music sub genre.
Scooter Trash is hard rock. The kind of music that’s suitable for hearing if you’re drunk in a loud bar.
As for particular media…
TM has a track on a various artists cassette: https://www.discogs.com/artist/238652
Same with ST but a more recent digital release: https://www.discogs.com/release/2804166-Various-Fuck-Corporate-Wank-Volume-2
Right! Like the moderator up top said don’t criticize people for their beliefs. Are you fucking kidding me?! So their belief that you should be killed is OK?
Thanks for saying this. Folks that get enraged at the cart thing have something else going on emotionally they need to deal with. Like, the world is out of their control and it’s going to shit so their mind goes to exerting any sort of control it possibly can in order to compensate for their general powerlessness. What we need to do is think hard how to affect what change we can and do that and learn to let go of stuff outside our influence.
I like Eye of the Beholder with Ashley Judd and StarWars McGregor or whatever his name is.
Also Flashbacks of a Fool with Daniel Craig.
And Five Easy Pieces with young Karen Black and that one guy.
