Just think of all the jobs this would create, tho! And if you remove 10% of workers then wages will rise! Just think of it like the construction of the interstate highway system during The Great Depression.
But seriously, can we just put all this fervor and effort into repairing bridges, roads, and railways?
It irks me also that the vocabulary-lazy folks account for 85% of the population because they constantly steal words from us that have specific narrow meanings. My advice, to help aid in our mental health, is to assume that every use of “fascism” really means “authoritarianism”.
That’s why I like the I Ching. Instead of wrapping its abstract advice in hokey mysticism or pop-psychology quackery it comes right out and admits what it’s doing. It say, “Generate a random number between 1 and 64, then read the abstract advice that goes with your number. It may help you see a problem in a new light.”

Short story time. In USA, over 25 years ago, a Russian immigrant used to give me rides down the peninsula to work in the early hours. I wondered at his ability to survive and provide for a family in our high cost of living area. He told me that applying for government and nongovernmental aid and so on was easy for him because he was used to the much worse Soviet bureaucracy.
