They arrested him in Slovenia

Police are searching for a man suspected of killing his pregnant partner and seriously wounding her sister in a Roma community near Mursko Središće on Thursday night.

Doctors at Čakovec Hospital say the wounded young woman remains in critical condition.

Authorities have launched a cross-border manhunt after the suspect’s vehicle was found in Slovenia, Međimurje Police Chief Ivan Sokač confirmed. The suspect, 40-year-old Josip Oršuš, has a long criminal record, and police have released his photo to the public. Both Croatia and Slovenia have issued arrest warrants, warning that he is armed and dangerous.

Novak Stjepanovic was sentenced to 13 years in prison in Serbia for war crimes in Bosnia in 1992, but he had already skipped the country to join Russian forces fighting in Ukraine, a BIRN investigation finds.

More on the counter-protests/attacks:

Masked men waited for protestors in Rijeka

The [anti-fascist] protest march was held on the route from Adriatic square, via Korzo to the Monument of Liberation on Delta, and a group of people dressed in black verbally attacked the protest participants at Adriatic square and threw firecrackers.

According to witnesses, around thirty young people, mostly masked, chanted various messages and cursed. The police kept them at a distance from the participants of the rally and pushed them towards Ciotti street.

March in Zadar met with insults and paint

[...]

On the Prince Branimir Shore in Zadar, the Dalmatian march gathered citizens of Zadar, Šibenik, Split and Korčula who, in a column, accompanied by numerous members of the riot police, set off across the bridge towards the People's Square.

While they were crossing the bridge they were attacked by two masked men with balls filled with red paint who were waiting for the column in a speedboat under the bridge. At the entrance to the city, a larger group of members of the Tornado fan group and several members of the Association of Women of the Homeland War tried to block their passage. After a jostling, they were dispersed by the riot police.

ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Thousands of people on Sunday joined protest marches in Croatia against a surging far right following a spate of incidents that have fueled both ethnic and political tensions in the European Union country.

Gatherings dubbed “United against fascism” were organized in four major cities, including the capital, Zagreb. The crowd chanted “we are all antifascists!” as they pledged to counter what they described as a bid by right-wing groups to spread fear and silence opponents.

There are also counter-protests:

Groups of young men wearing black clothes showed up in counter-gatherings in the northwestern port of Rijeka and the central coastal town of Zadar, according the Index news portal, which published photos. The same source said minor scuffles occurred with police and that one person was detained.

From what I've read, building is very unstable and they want to start as soon as possible.

Zagreb’s Vjesnik building will have to be torn down, structural experts have concluded. After days of inspections and analysis, engineers determined that the fire-damaged tower is unsafe and at risk of collapse, recommending that demolition begin as soon as possible.

A young person has been arrested in connection with a fire which destroyed Vjesnik Tower in the Croatian capital, Zagreb Police Department said in a statement on Thursday.

A major fire broke out late on Monday at the Vjesnik building on Slavonska Avenue in Zagreb, with flames rapidly spreading up the façade and reaching several upper floors, including the roof.

Meanwhile, Poland's defence chief Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the army would examine 120 kilometres of the Warsaw-Lublin-Hrubieszów line, which links the capital to Ukraine by rail and road.

A railway line linking Warsaw to southeastern Poland was damaged by a weekend explosion that Prime Minister Donald Tusk called an "unprecedented act of sabotage".

Tusk, who visited the site on Monday, said the line is "crucially important for delivering aid to Ukraine."

"Unfortunately, the worst fears have been confirmed," the Polish leader said in a statement Monday.

"An act of sabotage has occurred on the Warsaw-Lublin route. An explosion has destroyed the railway track."

Like say, some random drunk dude wanders onto your street yelling near your house for no reason.

I'm with you on this one. I get called weird often because I truly believe that someone yelling can escalate into me being murdered.

I don't have any skills so I don't think I could get really far back.

The public prosecutor's office in Milan has opened an investigation into claims that Italian citizens travelled to Bosnia-Herzegovina on "sniper safaris" during the war in the early 1990s.

Italians and others are alleged to have paid large sums to shoot at civilians in the besieged city of Sarajevo.

English: I think it's a mix of Slavic and American accents.

Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico warned that his country will oppose using Russian frozen assets to fund Ukraine's defense spending, speaking with Slovakian public broadcaster STVR on Saturday.

“Slovakia won’t take part in any legal or financial schemes to seize frozen assets if those funds would be spent on military costs in Ukraine,” Fico said, Bloomberg reported, citing the interview with STVR.

With heavy police security, but without incident, a protest by the Torcida fan group and the coordination of veterans' associations was held on Split's waterfront over the arrest of nine people who disrupted the Days of Serbian Culture in Split.

Yesterday they were outside Serbian Cultural Center in Zagreb protesting against the opening of an exibition and today they are protesting in Split for release of people who have been arrested for the original incident.

About 50 young men disrupted a Serbian cultural event in Split on Monday evening, demanding that participants and guests leave.

Witnesses said the group, masked and dressed in black, approached the Blatina District Council building and told people to exit. Police said there was no physical violence, although offensive language can be heard in recordings. Organizers and participants complied. The event featured a folklore dance performance by a group from Novi Sad and was part of Serbian Culture Week.

Everyone I talked to who did service, especially after the war said that it was a huge wase of time and that they learned nothing. As for alternative service, we do have alternative service available - 3 months serving in Civil Protection or 4 months working for local government.

Indeed, I believe this is only a start and that they will later increase it to 6 months or more.

It's not bad but I often feel akward when around my peers when they talk about relationships while I never even kissed a girl, let alone was in a relationship.
