Replace Von der Leyen with Macron

Zorin Linux is very Windows'ish (xp) :]

This! Exactly:]

I like the French - they say what they mean and express how they feel!

Yes, absolutely - and that's why I'm disappointed here. I expected her to do better, not just kneel to "emperor" Trump.

I was pro EU, but now I'm not sure anymore. It seems EU just became another pawn controlled by Trump.

So disappointed in Van der Leyen - this is weak! Steel tax remains at 50%! And EU is going to buy more military equipment from US, madness!

The only positive is that signed agreements doesn't really seem to mean anything anymore...

...give it some time, and it'll be death squad. Just plain killing people, cheaper than sending them away.

I like to think that most EU leaders want to do what is best for the union, sometimes that includes picking what is the least bad alternative between two bad ones.

Dune game (infosec.pub)

Loving the new Dune game so far. Impressed by the graphics and details 😊 Highly recommend if you like the Dune story. Hope they manage to tweak close combat though, it could be better.

Question for those of you living in a country where marijuana is legal. What are the positive sides, what are the negatives?

If you could go back in time, would you vote for legalising again? Does it affect the country's illegal drug business , more/less?

Sign here to support the EU's "STOP destroying videogames"

This initiative calls to require publishers that sell or license videogames to consumers in the European Union (or related features and assets sold for videogames they operate) to leave said videogames in a functional (playable) state.

Specifically, the initiative seeks to prevent the remote disabling of videogames by the publishers, before providing reasonable means to continue functioning of said videogames without the involvement from the side of the publisher.

The initiative does not seek to acquire ownership of said videogames, associated intellectual rights or monetization rights, neither does it expect the publisher to provide resources for the said videogame once they discontinue it while leaving it in a reasonably functional (playable) state.

Any good European sport watches?

Was going to buy a new run watch, and thought I would switch from Garmin to Suunto. Sent a mail to customer support, and got an auto reply that Suunto is moving operation to China. Including app and userdata 😢

Asked AI to break it down for me: This privacy policy update indicates some significant changes to how Suunto will handle your data, particularly regarding operations in China. Here's what it means for your privacy concerns:

Key Changes:

  • Suunto is transferring several key operations to their Chinese group companies, including customer service, repairs, web operations, and app development
  • These Chinese entities will now jointly collect and process your personal data alongside Suunto Oy (the main Finnish company)
  • Data will be transferred from the EU to China, which lacks GDPR-equivalent privacy protections

Privacy Implications:

  • Your personal data (likely including running routes, fitness metrics, location data, and account information) will now be processed in China
  • China has significantly different data privacy laws than the EU, with fewer protections for individual privacy and more government access
  • While Suunto mentions using "standard contractual clauses" (SCCs) to protect data, these are a legal mechanism that many privacy experts consider insufficient when transferring data to countries with intrusive surveillance laws

What This Means For You:

  • If you purchase a Suunto watch and use their services after October 10, 2024, your data will be subject to these new arrangements
  • Your running data, location information, and personal details would potentially be accessible to Chinese authorities under Chinese law
  • The Chinese companies will have access to and control over many aspects of your customer experience

If privacy is a significant concern for you, you might want to:

  1. Consider alternative sports watch brands with different data policies
  2. Research how data localization works with specific models (some watches can function with limited cloud connectivity)
  3. Review the full privacy policy to understand exactly what data is collected and how it's used
