Neat, thanks :)

Do you have a similar list for other categories (paid, optional cosmetic IAP)

We've got something in the works here:

https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/lemmy/for-moderators

We're still adding and brainstorming content, and then we'll organize it nicely (similar to the For Users section).

What kind of information would you like to have?

The story has other sources, and my comment isn't to say it's not true (partially or in full), but to point out the goals of the organization that made the graphic:

https://catalyticministries.com/

This other source (which I'm also unfamiliar with) discusses the organization and why they're controversial, and quotes the org's self described purpose:

https://ministrywatch.com/global-catalytic-ministries-hides-behind-veil-of-secrecy/

GCM offers varying descriptions of its work, many of them characterized by grandiose but unverified claims, such as “transforming Muslims worldwide,” “750 churches planted throughout the Middle East and Central Asia,” and “bringing disciple-making methods to the West to build a decentralized network of discipleship communities that will prepare America for the end time harvest.”

While there are credible sources for this story, there's something weird about that specific screenshot and text. I looked into it here

https://lemmy.ca/comment/17561676

Since that post was removed, I've copied the comment below. Note, this doesn't mean that the story is not true, but rather that some details of it are still unconfirmed and that the org that is distributing the graphic may have other motives for doing so

Edit: The articles I found suggest that the father admitted to it, while the brothers deny involvement and there is another hearing coming up. What I found weird though was the screenshot states the brothers involvement as a fact.

I looked around for the logo on the screenshot, and it seems to be this organization

https://catalyticministries.com/

@AnonomousWolf@lemmy.world I've added some more context around the screenshot. Would you be able to replace it with your recent article link?

[–] otter@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Ah ok, you might want to update the post title and URL fields with this article's link and the article's title. Else the mods will likely remove it, see the community rules

The article you linked doesn't confirm the current title you have up

[–] otter@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (4 children)

I'm not sure if those sources are any better since I can't find anything about them. According to the other comment, there should be other articles about this case since it was on their national news for some time.

Also, some of those articles are dated from 1 year ago. Is there a reason you're posting this now, such as new updates? Else it would be against the community rules

Edit: The articles I found suggest that the father admitted to it, while the brothers deny involvement and there is another hearing coming up. What I found weird though was the screenshot states the brothers involvement as a fact.

Which makes the source seem, less credible...

Going off of the last paragraph, it sounds like this happened in the Netherlands

[–] otter@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

It doesn't help if this was a long time ago, but you could contest the ticket with the information you gathered.

I know someone who got a ticket but the sign was obscured by a tree branch. After contesting the ticket, the ticket was dropped and the signage was fixed

Cool! Care to cross post this to !selfhosted@lemmy.world ?

[–] otter@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Nice :) Dadifer@lemmy.world suggested biweekly, and we can adjust later if we feel it's too much/little at that point

Excerpt of the summary:

Childhood diseases have profound lifelong effects on health, livelihoods, and societies. Investment in early childhood results in highly cost-effective changes to lifelong health, productivity, and human capital returns. Yet, there remain substantial gaps in knowledge on the efficacy and safety of many paediatric interventions, which represents a failure to establish shared priorities and alignment across governments, researchers, communities, and funders. Children are frequently marginalised from clinical trials, which is an issue of equity. Challenges include mismatched priorities and funding, risk adversity, poor design, power imbalances, and inadequate infrastructure.

Elections Canada has released this resource with some common bits of false or misleading content about elections on social media: https://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?section=res&dir=dis&document=index&lang=e

~~We plan on pinning this resource, and we are proposing the following rules:~~

edit: Thank you for the feedback everyone, these adjusted rules will be enforced:

  • Posts or comments with inaccurate or misleading information from this list will be removed, and users are encouraged to report them
  • Repeatedly posting such content will result in a ban from the community until April 28 (at a minimum)

So far we haven't noticed any serious issues, but we want to get ahead of anything that might come up

Pixelfed app v1.2.0 has been shipped to TestFlight, the App Store and Play Store, in addition to publishing a sideloadable APK in the release

From the notes:

  • Added Themes (light, dark, slate, pink)
  • Fixed Android comment input bug
  • Fixed unblock action
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements

I saw this article earlier:

Tesla 'going bankrupt' is endpoint of protests, says local organizer

In the spirit of right to repair, self-hosting, giving a second life to old devices, and limiting data collection by car companies:

  • What are some considerations?
  • Are there any projects worth keeping an eye on?

An example that came to mind was Valetudo, which is a cloud replacement for vacuum robots enabling local-only operation. Some robot vacuums are easy to install this on, and others require more invasive modifications.

What I've found so far:

  • FreedomEV, a project that was presented at FOSSDEM 2019 but doesn't have recent activity
  • TeslaMate, which is a popular and active selfhosted data logger for Teslas, but not necessarily a replacement for the software

I haven't played around with it yet, but it looks neat

This small but mighty update includes some exciting new features and improvements to Zen, such as passkey support for MacOS, and a media player controller that's fully integrated with Picture-in-Picture mode.
