Used to live around this area. It’s the safest area in Chicago before these fascist thugs invaded.

Stay safe everyone.

In the charges filed Sunday, prosecutors notably did not mention a loaded gun in Martinez’s car that was referenced in a previous statement by the Department of Homeland Security. But in court Monday, Hennessy said Martinez had a loaded firearm on the passenger side of her car but never brandished it. Martinez’s attorney, Parente, said she has a valid firearm and concealed-carry license.

A facility in Broadview, a mostly Black suburb, has become the site of escalation and ‘targeted attacks’ on protesters

In recent weeks the Broadview facility has become the site of escalations by federal agents against protesters and journalists. Videos of agents deploying tear gas, pepper balls and roughly throwing protesters to the ground have gone viral, amidst the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

The Trump administration targeted Chicago with federal law enforcement starting in August, falsely claiming there had been a rise in crime in the city in recent years.

Since then, there have been increasingly aggressive reports of ICE enforcement in communities, including helicopters hovering over apartment raids. There have also been arrests of local officials and candidates for office who were protesting, including Illinois’ ninth congressional district Kat Abughazaleh, who went viral with a video of an ICE agent slamming her to the ground, Daniel Biss, the Evanston mayor, and a city alderman who were aggressively arrested while trying to advocate in a hospital setting.

The federal government is offering unaccompanied migrant children 14 and older $2,500 to leave the United States of their own volition, or “self-deport” back to their countries, according to a memo sent by the Department of Health and Human Services and obtained by NBC News.

Wendy Young with Kids in Need of Defense said in a statement, “Unaccompanied children should never be removed from the United States without a full and fair process to determine if they are eligible for U.S. protection.”

“This operation undermines laws that guarantee that process for unaccompanied children, and it runs counter to our nation’s longstanding commitment to protect the most vulnerable among us — children — from violence, trafficking, abuse, persecution, and other grave dangers,” she continued.
