Generally studio/mixer/DJ audio tools like audacity or mixxx will probably do most stuff like this.
But they might be a bit overkill, I think you could just use two instances of VLC.
Change "stereo output mode" setting, to left on on instance and right on the a second instance.
I'm not sure if this will blend left and right signals before output though I'd guess it probably would.
I'm not sure if this is a really band that split up or just a one off collaboration, but whatever.

if you have a lot of symlinks, then make a simple bash script that'll recreate them.
also worth having a bash script that installs all your packages , and makes any config changes (copies edited files ) should you need to start again for any reason.(fire / theft / disk failure).
cloud is ok as a 3rd backup - but i regard it more for portability and remote access than as a primary backup. whoever owns it can go bust, or have downtime, or get hacked etc.

i think at higher speeds the wheel and road noise drowns out the engine noise, but at lower speeds its the engine, especially during acceletation.
in the region of 20-30mph i'd think the engine is probably the louder part.
