It's called Sweep
Could you edit the title and add [Vendor] prefix please. Yes you can edit titles on lemmy.
If you want to put a controller on the underside of a keyboard, like the promicro, you can do it with just a standard MX or choc footprint by straddling the switch footprint. But if you swap the switch footprint with a kailh hotswap socket footprint the pads overlap with the promicro's through holes. So to keep the promicro under the switches you'd need to rotate it or remove some of the pins from the footprint, giving you less IO. This is designed to be able to be placed over the hotswap footprint.
There are two major benefits in ergonomics with fully-splits. They are that, 1, they acknowledge that one size does not fit all in that they offer a way to move them around and find the right angles and positions for you and your hands; and, 2, "the best posture is the best posture" - i.e. the ability to move and adjust your setup throughout the day/session is itself an ergonomic benefit, staying in one posture is one of the roots of RSI.
Another thing that full splits offer that you may find beneficial is tenting, especially (again) adjustable tenting. Monoblocks don't tend to be tented and when they are they are stuck at a fixed angle, if that's not the right angle for you then it's a problem, and adjustability is king for the aforementioned reasons.
Now, there are many factors, split keyboards are not a panacea. Mouses/pointing devices play a role, as do chairs, desks and maybe most importantly habits! Take regular breaks, move around, etc. Again, the best posture is the next posture.
Also don't listen to people on the Internet and consult a doctor/physiotherapist.
To speed up your PCB creation this board would be really quite easy to make in ergogen and that can spit out a PCB for you and all you'll need to do is route it. Either way, it shouldn't be too hard to make anyway.
One tip if you make it in kicad yourself from scratch. Set your grid size to a fraction of 19.05 (MX Spacing), start by laying out one half of the switches and then rotate them as a block, then do the same for the other half. that'll make it much easier to work with than trying to place everything on an angle.
Good luck.
Ah, then disregard. Poorly worded as you say, but okay.
Anyway other than the open source promicro-based homage that broom made (as linked by @hazel@keeb.lol). Germ is no longer around in the community/Internet so it's not being made or sold anymore, indeed. It was a closed design so the only hope would be for a clone or something similar.
This is really nice. Great work.
Yeah, I'm aware that Discord isn't great either but there really aren't any other marketplaces for direct trades between users and allowing them here would open the door too easily to scammers. Whilst it's not like we'd accept liability for bad trades, we'd also not want to foster a community where that's a common occurrence. So really you want something like a reputation bot, etc. For this like mechmarket has. There just isn't an open and distributed place where this community exists enough for buyers and sellers to find each other.
It could not be a vendor recommendation question, since no vendors carry the gergoplex and it's not open source. It's definitely trying to solicit an aftermarket sale. Which is understandable, but just not something we want to encourage and moderate here.
Hi, please see the rules around BST. I'm aware though that the alternative listed is still /r/mechmarket on reddit which you may not wish to use. I would suggest asking in relevant community discords like the low-profile keyboards discord or regional ones for where you live as many of these have trading channels.
Ordered the PCBs myself, already had everything else on hand (I build keyboards a lot)
