The Season 27 premiere on Comedy Central, originally slated for July 9, is being moved to July 23.

The delay comes amid tension — including a legal threat — over South Park‘s lucrative streaming rights as the series was caught in the uncertainty over Skydance’s pending acquisition of Comedy Central parent Paramount Global, which co-owns the joint venture behind South Park, South Park Digital Studios, with series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone who run it.

A linear block of Adult Swim SMALLS toons will share episodes from some of the digital shorts initiative’s most popular series, kicking off Friday, July 4 at midnight.

The collection includes episodes from:

  • Mandal Takes an L
  • Boom Dude
  • Peter Hair
  • Munch Rexford
  • Squatters
  • Dewdge Center
  • The Fit

Robot Chicken: Self-Discovery Special premieres July 20th on Adult Swim, next day on Max.

The foibles of human mortals will provide fodder for heavenly comedy in Standing By, the new adult animated series set for Hulu. The 2D-animated show is set to premiere on the streamer on August 8 in the U.S.

Created by Dan Levy (Schitt’s Creek) and Ally Pankiw (Feel Good, The Great), Standing By is about ” the hilarity, embarrassment, and melodrama of everyday life as observed by a team of judgmental, gossip-starved Guardian Angels,” as the creators explained when the show was picked up in 2022.

The show features a star-studded voice cast led by Levy, two-time BAFTA nominee David Tennant (Doctor Who, DuckTales), Natalie Palamides (The Powerpuff Girls), three-time Golden Globe winner Glenn Close, Poppy Liu (Hacks) and Samira Wiley(Orange Is the New Black).

Levy and Pankiw are creators and executive producers, with Danielle Uhlarik (Solar Opposites) as showrunner and executive producer. The series is produced by 20th Television Animation.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone accused incoming Paramount president Jeff Shell of meddling in contract negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix.

Thirty years ago, What A Cartoon! was my attempt to rekindle the magic of the cartoons I loved as a kid, by giving animated filmmakers the creative reins and trusting their instincts. Against the odds, it sparked a wave of originality that launched careers and helped define a new era in TV animation. For those of us who were there, it was a wild ride; for younger creators, I hope this story reminds you what’s possible when artists lead. I tried to make it a celebration of the spirit that still drives great cartoons today.

Today, Prime Video announced that Sausage Party: Foodtopia is back on the menu this summer, returning for a second season on August 13. All eight new episodes of the animated comedy will be served all at once in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

In Season 2, exiled from home, Frank, Barry and Sammy soon find themselves in New Foodland, a shining utopia for food and humans alike. But beneath the city’s glossy fridges and cheery smiles lies a dark secret that threatens the entirety of sentient food society.
