I often struggle with rushing out the door in the morning without grabbing something to eat. I have had this problem as long as I can remember. This changed when I started taking medication to treat my ADHD symptoms. Without a full meal, the duration and effectiveness of my morning dose would vary. I needed a solution.

I started doing meal prep once a week. Sometimes I make 4-5 days worth of breakfast burritos or a big batch of hash browns with veggies I had on hand. Healthy trail mix as a meal replacement is a good option if I'm in a rush (I like Power Up High Energy). It is ready to eat, doesn't require cooking or utensils, and is shelf stable at room temperature. I keep some in my work backpack and at my desk in case I miss lunch. What hacks work best for you?

Have you tried using the "I Am Sober" app? I've been using it for years and have had good success with it. My advice would be to track exactly how many drinks you have each day and challenge yourself to go longer and longer periods without drinking. The longer you go, the more often you will notice how good it feels to not be bloated or hungover all the time.

I am currently ~6 months sober and feeling great! I used to drink 2-3 beers a night. If you account for the % abv the number was occasionally closer to 4-6. I found that my cravings for beer began to fade after quitting for about a month. Those four weeks can be surprisingly hard to achieve if you have never tried quiting before. Just do your best and don't let a relapse convince you that it can't be done.

After a while you will probably lose some weight. Beer has a ton of sugar and empty calories. It also messes with how efficient your body is at digesting food. I've lost 30 pounds since I began my journey! Do you have acid reflux? If so, you might begin to notice that quitting reduces acid reflux and ulcer flare ups. As a result, you might not need to use antacids as often. I recently found out that antacids can impact the effectiveness of medication you might be taking since it changes the pH of your stomach.

The only other advice I can give is that you might need to relearn how to manage stress/anxiety without alcohol. You might also feel pressured to drink at social gatherings. As you build confidence, it will become easier to not let others pressure you to drink. That might take some time. I've found that kombucha, CBD sodas, or ginger beer have been great replacements for alcohol in social situations and easily fly under the radar of people not minding their own damn business. 😁

I'm glad you are considering quitting drinking! Best of luck to you!

Zappa's last US show was pretty epic. One of the most interesting covers of Stairway To Heaven I've heard. March 23-25 1988.

The video showing how the worm mimics a caterpillar's movement is wild! Also a bit terrifying...

I loved that album! The Earth AD cover by Earth Crisis was a personal favorite

Check out The Late Great Daniel Johnston: Discovered Covered. Very good compilation of Daniel Johnston covers along with original versions. There are a surprising number of established artists that participated in this project. Beck, Flaming Lips, Tom Waits, Death Cab For Cutie, Bright Eyes, TV On The Radio, etc. Hope you like it!

Very cool. I wonder what the apples would be like if you propagated new trees from the seeds of your Liberty/Ashmead/Cox Orange Pippen grafted tree. Will this tree be used for cider apples?

What amount of fruit production can you expect in a year after grafting like that? I have a couple of apple trees on my property that were there before I purchased my home. I'd like to graft more interesting apple varietals than was is currently in place.

I love Ween. I hope they start writing/performing again. They are so talented.

What tools are you using? Any tips you can provide for others interested in doing the same?

Thank you. I'm still very new to all this. I was on the fence about whether or not telling others would lead to negative outcomes. People in my close circles have known that I had been struggling at work and that I was trying to improve my overall physical/mental health. I've cut out alcohol, started exercising more, and have been monitoring my health via apps and gadgets to track sleep and other metrics. I'm doing much better now. I'm more focused at work and my symptoms are becoming easier to manage. I agree with you and others in this thread that there isn't really a need to discuss my diagnosis with anyone. I appreciate the advice!

Is it generally considered a bad idea to share with others that you have been diagnosed with ADHD? How have others handled sharing diagnosis information with friends, family, work, etc?
