That looks good then, I will send you a pm.

You can test it by installing Rust and running cargo install lemmy_server.

Yes I made a mistake with that when implementing vote federation. I already made a change to receive private votes. To send out votes from Lemmy as private will be a breaking change, so that will have to wait a bit longer (normally in 0.18.0, but maybe already in 0.17.0, depending how fast the above change gets rolled out).

hetzner.com and ovh.com both have free ddos protection included with their servers.

Good to know. But Lemmy is open source, so they have the same right to use it as everyone else.

There is no previous work on Peertube compatibility, it just happens to use Groups for its channels, which Lemmy also uses for communities. Lemmy cant handle videos, but i might look into that.

Its really lightweight, 150 mb ram and quite low cpu usage with default docker install.

I dont know if the slur filter for lemmy.ml is posted publicly anywhere, but its just insults which no one would use in normal conversation. Also, each instance can define their own filter, or disable it completely.

And you want to ban people just because they have a different opinion. To me that sounds much more dangerous.

Yhe purpose of rules and moderation is that everyone behaves well, eithoit personal insults etc. Not to decide what is true or false (thats what discussions are for).

If its really misinformation like you say, it should be no problem to debunk it with actual arguments. And if you dont like the community, you can personally block it.

We dont have any site rules on those topics, so its not a reason for ban/removal on its own. There is also no rule about misinformation, because it can be very hard to determine what falls under that label.

I think if someone is clearly spreading false information, it should be easy enough for any user to debunk it using actual facts. That way mods can focus on their actual task (ensure that people behave well), instead of turning into some kind of "fact checkers". Besides, everyone can learn something from such discussions.
