It was actually easy because a lot of data was stored which was never used at all.
Things have calmed down now so I finally have some more time now.
If Kbin is already halfway there, then its much closer than Lemmy. Microblogging users can already participate in Lemmy communities. Following users from Lemmy makes some sense, however it would be extremely complicated to implement and I really dont think its worth the effort.
Sure we accept all well-written contributions. However bounty platforms dont work well for open source in my experience. At best the bounty for a given issue is a few hundred euros, which is far from enough for any serious developer to tackle it. So they bounties usually stay open for months or years, until one of the maintainers gets around to work on it. At that point its much more effective to donate directly to the maintainers.
Makes sense, you can open an issue for this if there isnt already.
If you change the format to https://lemmyverse.link/?id=https://lemmings.world/c/wwdits
, it will automatically work with posts and comments too, as well as objects on other Fediverse platforms. In this case you are storing the Activitypub id of each object, which you can use with resolve_object api call to view it from a given Lemmy instance. Plus it can easily be rewritten by a human to remove the leading domain in case it goes down.
We dont use any bounty platform.
If you want a feature implemented, the best way is to do it yourself. In this case it could be helpful to write something like an rfc to describe how exactly the feature can be implemented on a technical level in the Lemmy code. Or implement it directly yourself, but that will be difficult.
That already exists, its called Kbin.
Buy a major social media platform and run it into the ground. Oh wait...
Test accounts...
How do you know that the Firefish admin was actually aware of any racist posts? That's quite the jump to conclusion.
