How'd it go? Was it rescheduled?

[–] nuggsy@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ahh, that blows man... Are there any opportunities later in the week?

Been a little bit since I've skimmed through. Feels like Arsenal transfer news has quietened a little after getting what feels like the main business out of the way.

I noticed Anthony Elanga was still on the list but has since signed for Newcastle. So, I went through the list and spotted some others that may have been missed:

  • Emanuele Rao: looks to have been loaned out to Bari in Serie B on 17th July
  • Leroy Sané: Moved to Galatasaray on a free

Also, Jadon Sancho is back at Manchester United after the loan to Chelsea

Finished Capaldi's Doctor and I think his last is season is the strongest of his tenure. His 2nd season is good and a step up from his first. Overall it's a bit better than I remember it but I think there was some inconsistency in quality. I feel like there was a lot of potential there. Sometimes there was a bit of telling and not showing or the episodes felt a little rushed.

Like there's some unknown threat and the Doctor spends the episode figuring out what it is, when we were exposed to it within the first minute of the episode. Maybe stuff like that could have been teased out more, leave the audience in the dark longer so we're finding out as the characters do. Or there's elements of an episode where it feels rushed. Like the 'Empress of Mars' episode where a soldier has a redemption arc within 5-10 minutes of finding out he was a deserter. It didn't feel like I got to see him really wrestle with that dilemma. We get some hints of him being undermined, then there's the reveal, he then runs away and not 5 minutes later he comes back and has this big moment where he's put that passed him to save the day. It's a good reveal and the redemption is fine, there's just not much substance in between to really flesh out that character.

After that thought, maybe that's how I can summarise the Doctor Who seasons under Moffat with Capaldi's Doctor; decent start and good finishes, just sometimes lacking in between.

Also, Bill is definitely up there as one of the best companions. Pearl Mackie did a great job. I also forgot how long Matt Lucas featured in the show.

Just started Whittaker's Doctor now. Based on the first episode the delivery feels too rushed or flat. Still get the feeling she's trying to do too much with it, which I get. It's a pretty big role with big expectations. The main positive is that I do quite like the atmosphere they created. Feels dark and gritty compared to Moffat, which I think I quite like. Onto the 2nd episode...

Didn't realise how much taller Rice was compared to Martinelli, lol

You reckon Arteta will start some of the new signings or come on as 2nd half subs?

I've had to find some new links if you need any

I'm glad it didn't go to penalties. I don't think I could have done it xD

Howdy all! It's taken me a while to get back to this for various life reasons, but I have finally collected all of the average scores (as voted by you and I) from the Post-Match Ratings, combined and then cultivated that data into a nice spreadsheet that I now cede to you all!

I have provided some screenshots and stats below for convenience but, feel free to peruse the link provided.

During the process, I went a little deeper and added additional things like wins/draws/loses, notes for goal scorers, tracked injuries, suspensions, benched players who didn't feature and so on. Those can be found on the other sheets in the document, along with all player scores and a summary I made on how I felt the season went in each competition.

Disclosure: The stats are purely based off of what was rated in the Post-Match Ratings as a collective and therefore is not necessarily representative of any one individual. It also doesn't factor in minutes played, substitutes, starters, dismissals, etc.

Overall Average Totals

  • 🔺Denotes Out on Loan
  • 🔻Denotes On Loan to the Club

Saka takes the top spot with the highest Overall, Premier League and Champions League averages over 37 games.

Or did he?

Although only playing two games total, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji topped in the Overall, Premier League and Champions League Averages:

Kieran Tierney finished his Arsenal career featuring in 20 games with an average rating of 6.94, the 5th highest. His highest score with 8.33, came in his MotM performance against Southampton in the final day of the season, his last in an Arsenal jersey.

Some other (potentially) interesting stats:

  • PL Highest Score: 9.67 Bakayo Saka vs Nottingham Forest at Home
  • Highest Overall Score (All Comps): 10.00 Declan Rice vs Real Madrid at Home and Ethan Nwaneri vs Bolton Wanderers at Home
  • Lowest Overall Score (All Comps): 1.00 Mikel Merino vs Nottingahm Forest Away
  • Featured Most: 56 Leandro Trossard
  • Featured Once: 9 Ayden Heaven, Ismeal Kabia, Maldini Kacurri, Reiss Nelson, Norberto Neto, Josh Nichols, Jack Porter, Tommy Setford and Takehiro Tomiyasu
  • Total Goalkeepers Used: 4 Norberto Neto (1), Jack Porter (1), David Raya (55) and Tommy Setford (1)
  • MotM: Bukayo Saka was voted MotM 9 times, followed by Declan Rice on 8 and Ethan Nwaneri on 6
  • Myles Lewis-Skelly was voted MotM with 6.38 despite getting a red card in the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers

I could spend so much more time delving into these stats, but this feels like it's getting long. So, let me know if there's anything else you want me to pick out. I still plan on tweaking and tinkering as I go.

I plan on doing the same again for this season. I have a template setup now, so I should be able to just put the data in and get most of what I'm after.

Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to delve into or if you have any recommendations!

Reflecting after signing his new contract, Myles said: “I’m so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I’m a fan and it’s like a dream come true.

“I've embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I've still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that's the most important thing to me.

Howdy all! For a little while now I've been considering collecting all the data from the post-match ratings to help (mostly me) visalise how we think players have performed throughout the season in all competitions.

I also kind of enjoy tinkering on spreadsheets. I know my way around, but not overly experienced. So, this kind of also scratches an itch since I am "between jobs".

I've included all players including those out on loan and anybody named on the bench who didn't play any minutes. This was so if they do potentially feature in a future game, for whatever reason, I won't have to add them in later. I also thought it would be interesting to track what was happening with each player at those times (i.e. Bench, Injured, Cup Tied, etc).

Whilst writing this I realised I don't have dates for any matches. So, that's something I'll add in at some point.

I also plan on doing something similar for the 23/24 season (maybe not as extensive), but I used this as a smaller test and spring board to find a layout I liked that worked. This was also a little less overwhelming considering we've only played 8 games compared to 38+.

If you would like me to post updates to the ratings every week/month/year/never, let me know. Otherwise, feel free to critique, view, discuss, ignore at your own leisure.

Howdy all! As the title mentions, what happened to lemmy.wtf?

Someone in one of the communities I frequent mentioned lemmy.wtf was nuked and they lost their account, but I wasn't able to find any further information.

Does anybody know what happened?

This isn't intended to be a support question, it was just to find out if it anybody knew what happened.

EDIT: Looks like Lemmy.WTF is back up
