Worst case scenario you aren't humiliating yourself, you can yell at the manager or whatever and make them look like the pieces of shit they are in front of their other employees/customers. Best case you did get the job and they're just bad at computer (very common)

I mean if you never leave the US (easy to do, it's gigantic and travel is expensive), it's kinda understandable that you'd struggle with accents because you rarely hear any, let alone other languages. I know americans that have trouble with english accents lmao
