Tho shit has changed since then. The quality of audio and video has increased. Especially on the visual side this takes a lot more storage. More polygons and more pixels equal larger size.
Also, if I remember correctly, data is often stored in multiple places to make it more efficient to read it from BluRay or HDDs.
Tho, with SSDs now in everything, the second thing will probably die out.

You can get PCIe to PCI cards. I think PCIe is pretty much backwards compatible with PCI and only little logic is required. And PCI-X cards do work in PCI slots at reduced bandwidth.
Tho, if a system works without issue, why touch it? Only if parts become hard or expensive to come by a replacement makes sense.
Ich bin über den gemittelten Preis ganz froh. Ich habe zwar eine gewisse Grundlast laufen, aber das meiste haue ich durch Home-Office zwischen 8 und 17 Uhr raus. Daher ist die durchschnittliche Grundlage für mich von Vorteil.
Ja, fast jeder Anbieter hat 4 Wochen Frist. Vor Februar wäre ich dort dann wohl nicht raus. Ich bin aber echt interessiert an den Preisen. Sobald ich die Berechnungsformel habe würde ich als wirst case den letzten Dezember reinwerfen. Viel schlimmer wird es so schnell nicht mehr.

Luckily they allow to revert this change. Switching the display refresh rate down (esp to 40hz) brings some visual artifacts with it. So I normally just let it sit at 60 and pull the framrate limit to 30.
