Yeah the fork is really new so I get why it seems that way. A tankie is a person who is a left wing authoritarian, to the point that they support Russia (I guess because of udssr history?) and china. Lemmy's main developers fall under that spectrum and one of the largest lemmy instances before the whole reddit api thing went down was lemmygrad.ml, where you get banned if you dare criticise the CCP. Thankfully most instances are deferedated from it.

It's a fork of lemmur, which has been around for quite a long time but whose development was stopped earlier this year because its developers didn't want to be associated with tankies.
Imagine being so insecure that you won't use an app because the name isn't manly enough. (Although to be fair i am also using liftoff atm because it was the open source app that worked the best last time I tried them all)

Ich schaue sehr sehr gerne cyclocross rennen. Leute fahren mit ihren Rennrädern über Wiese, durch Matsch und Sand. Dann gibt es steile Hänge und Treppen, bei denen sie dann absteigen und das Fahrrad auf ihrem Rücken tragen müssen. Und es gibt Hindernisse, wo man eigentlich auch absteigen muss, aber es gibt ein paar, die gelernt haben, per bunny hop drüber zu kommen und somit zeit zu sparen. Die Rennen sind alle relativ kurz, so ca eine Stunde, und es wird in Runden gefahren. Durch die große Chance, Fehler zu machen, sind Rennen sehr selten vor der letzten Runde entschieden und es kann sich immer noch was ändern.

It's a known issue. Unfortunately it's a bug in a library they are using, so the only thing they can do until it is fixed is to disable autocorrect (which also doesn't seem to work atm). I've encountered the same issue in another app about 6 months ago, so I don't think it will be fixed anytime soon.
Are you using jerboa? The auto correct removing spaces isn't a general thing, it is specific to a library jerboa uses (compose), which has odd behaviour, causing openboard to malfunction.
