And carting CDs and vinyl around used a lot more energy still.

We should focus on increasing renewable energy production, not degrowth.

Why not just leave it up to the users? Maybe put a warning?

Why does the government have to ban everything and treat us like children?

Thanks, I hadn't heard of Frogun! So many frog games with Kero Quest 64 too!

Ignoring AI, making custom hardware has become a lot cheaper - 3D printers are cheaper, PCB manufacturing is cheaper, etc.

So hopefully we'll see a big increase in innovation and competition there too.

Just get AC, it works so well for de-humidifying too.

But otherwise blackout curtains can help a bit but also radiate heat themselves.

I really enjoyed Azaran, Gravity Storm and Always With You in the NextFest.

I have it on my wishlist! But have to cut the spending somewhere haha. I'd also like to get Cyber Knights, A Hat In Time, Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom, Skin Deep and Soulash 2 - but it's just too much money with so little time for gaming now (especially with keyboard + mouse for the latter two).

Super Mario by far IMO, basically all of the games.

5yo is probably still too young to understand Zelda.

I'm planning to buy:

As I mainly play on the Steam Deck.

Any other recommendations?

ProtonVPN has it, and Wireguard support.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister has incredible Steam Deck support btw and is currently on a 60% sale. I bought it as I have some flights coming up and wanted to get more familiar with D&D5e before BG3 comes out.

Obviously buying it right now is a bit like "we have Baldur's Gate 3 at home..." but I was pleasantly surprised by how great the Steam Deck support is. It's like they must've tested it on the Steam Deck specifically.

There's a few minor issues with small text, but aside from that it's great.

It's awesome to see games get official controller support for the Steam Deck. Hopefully Baldur's Gate 3 will have as great support as well.

I'll be travelling soon and was wondering what are good games for low power-usage and offline?

Previously I enjoyed:

  • Into The Breach
  • Baba Is You
  • Vampire Survivors
  • Super Mario All-Stars (SNES)

At the moment I'm planning to set up:

  • Lufia 2 (SNES)
  • Shadowrun (SNES + Genesis versions)
  • Golden Sun (GBA)
  • A Link To The Past (SNES)
  • Minish Cap (GBA)
  • A Link Between Worlds (NDS) - never played it, hopefully the controls map well!
  • Fire Emblem: Awakening (NDS) - same as above, never had a NDS
  • Oracle Of Ages (GBA)
  • Chrono Trigger (SNES)
  • Ogre Battle 64 (N64) - not sure how bad the power usage is on the N64 emulators

Maybe the Ace Attorney and Professor Layton series too which I haven't played. Also GTA1, London and 2 if they work. I love Advance Wars too but I've played it too many times already.

Basically anything that is easy to run, low power, and easy to play with just the controls and small screen in a cramped space. Ideally nothing too difficult / stressful like Hollow Knight that could be hard to play without good screen brightness or cramped.

I like a lot of older PC games but unfortunately they're difficult to play without a mouse and on the small screen - e.g. Ultima VII and Arx Fatalis.

What are the best providers these days that don't worry about total traffic or hosting small services?

Ideally like RES used to be - you have to click on an icon to load and show the image.

Unfortunately this image auto-loading has been frequently used for abuse already. But it is also quite annoying when amongst a lot of text comments and lends itself to low-effort memes.
