Also called a portmanteau, like internet, malware, or genome.

My mom is a boomer who was fortunate to inherit her mom’s house when both my dad and her mom died within months of each other.

She’s on a fixed income, but was able to get rebates and sincerely Solar relatively early, 2015 I think. Her medium sized northern US house was previously heated with wood pellets, but now has a dual zone heat pump, and the solar has paid for itself in electricity savings in the first 4 years.

She’s lost a panel and inverter since then (inverter was under warranty), but the replacement inverter is less than half the size, and leaves room in the garage for a battery someday.

It’s worked out very well financially for her. I’m jealous because I don’t have the cash or sunny roof space to make it work at my house.

You can get a deal on taxes and healthcare if you live in the US, it’s literally why my wife and I married.

We’re still happy like before and It’s been 19 years.

+1 for farm shares, except they’ve mostly closed and sold off their land to developers in my neck of the woods. Getting into the remaining ones has proved difficult.

Also we have a nutty growing season that means it’s mostly root veggies for 8months of the year.

We still want to support local ag, but it ain’t easy in a cold state with aging population.

Knowing ford, if the nostrils were real, it would drain onto some computer module and be a nightmare.

Did you see the stickers by the rear “ducts”?

If it’s incinerated properly, burning the old plastic shouldn’t be much different from burning other hydrocarbons.

I’d rather they burned up plastics from landfills than coal, and probably oil and gas too really.

That island is a weird mix of Disney style tourism, and a rich (R) people retreat.

We used to go up and ride tandems around the island in the 80s. The fudge was pretty special at the time too. Worth the constant avoidance of horse shit everywhere on the main drag.

Now the chocolate (Kilwins) is available at most vacation spots east of the Mississippi, and even Texas for some reason, and the road around the island is constantly getting washed out because of the Great Lakes flooding, from the climate disaster that probably 85% of the islands land owners deny exists.

There’s even a ridiculous giant gold Gerald Ford head up there near the scout camp, you know, the guy who pardoned Nixon.

I went back with my son a couple years ago, and decided that was probably the last visit for us. Other places in northern MI are much more beautiful and nicer to visit.

And the moderate or liberal ones are seeing that even though the income taxes aren’t there, that property taxes have to be astronomical to make up for it. So that relatively cheap McMansion 1:45 from Dallas, is gonna end up costing double after 20 years of taxes.

Then leaving.

I wonder how much energy it takes to transform, or hold patterns like that.

Also it’s a bummer they’re lives are so short. We need some more smart octopi in our world.

Common with karting. Getting thrown off is the plan if it rolls. Wearing motorcycle leather or a tough race suit is also part of the safety.

And also only doing it on a track!

I’d be most worried about the wheels and tires that don’t look prepared for any kind of side loading.
