At one point they were only keeping the desperate H-1B visa workers. I don’t know if that’s still the case, or how many of those workers are Asian or South Asian, but they might not want to move to whatever anti-woke place Musk wants to put X next.

The right wing in my mom’s town passed a measure to close one of the fire stations (to lower taxes).
Turns out if the fire response times go above a certain threshold, your homeowners insurance goes up by a lot more than the tax cut (I think it saved a couple hundred dollars a year, and added a couple hundred dollars a month to most home insurance in 1/3 of the town).
Once 1/3 of the town realized it, the measures was repealed before the shutdown could happen.
That’s not what they scare monger about on faux news channels. They make it seem like all cities are full is hoards of group shop lifters that run in and empty a store every damn day.
It’s ridiculous and meant to separate the blue cities from their idea of their country.
You don’t need satellites in space to shift GPS, they’ve been messing with it in war zones for years, and AWACS like planes could do it in real time anywhere they won’t get shot down.
If you want the fight to be more even, guns are a fucking waste of time. You’d need armed drones dropping grenades like in Ukraine. Or IEDs like the insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The cops already assume too many houses are armed up like ruby ridge and they go in no-knock warranting and shoot your dog while blinding and burning your toddler “just in case”.
The more guns proliferate the more on edge we all get, and cops aren’t the ones that are gonna be more respectful with more people armed. Quite the fucking opposite has been true so far.

I’m old enough that when I flew as an unaccompanied minor in the early 90s, I got to go up to the cockpit to talk to the co pilot. Got some plastic wings from northwest while I was in there too.

I usually try to apply Hanlon’s razor first, but the evidence that they expected covid to be a blue state problem since Boston, San Fransisco, and especially NYC, all had very bad initial outbreaks and high casualties in starting March of 2020, leads me to believe there was malice behind their choices.
