For people outside CA it’s almost always Southern California. Occasionally SoCal is used, but usually in really informal settings only.
But as someone from Detroit. South Detroit is said all the time, in that fucking Journey song. Even though all that’s south of Downtown Detroit is river (and then Windsor Canada).
I agree that size needs to come down. But in many parts of the US, the commute is a little too long for the small EVs with the current battery and charging technology.
I hope we get there though. Grew up in the 80s and miss the small, efficient, hot hatch world we had then.

The problem with Cheeto Mussolini is that he’s only worried about his own outcome, and if it doesn’t affect him, he’ll let whichever group he owes the most do whatever they want. And they have a plan this time since last time he wasn’t supposed to win either.
I like working on Subarus for that reason, but they are still statistically more expensive for maintenance and repairs than Toyotas on average. (Not for me though, I do everything but bodywork on my cars).
That said, the new Prius and GR cars from Toyota (who also has a big stake in Subaru) are really attractive. Also, the E-CVTs in Toyota and Subaru hybrids are really nice and low wear designs. The non-e Subaru CVTs haunt my nightmares. I have a crosstrek CVT with 133k miles on it and tightly crossed fingers…
