Right, that’s what the southern strategy was.

Get all the white voters on your side by stoking racial fears. Trump just realized that the racists are everywhere, and many of them were too dumb to understand the dog whistles enough to be motivated to vote. What some of the rest of us underestimated, was how little the rest of the conservatives would care.

I was under the impression that (at least in the US) scammers don’t reveal any real phone numbers with Caller-ID. That they just chose random numbers with your area code and similar exchange digits to try and convince you it’sa let local call (like you drs office or whatever you may be waiting on). Is that not true?

Yeah my FIL, just recently sold a condo in FL. He’s had it since the 1980s and for the last 25 years it’s been rented by an elderly woman for basically the cost of condo fees, taxes and maintenance (though I think he lost money upgrading the sliding door after a hurricane). It was supposed to be where he retired to (15 years ago), but his wife had Alzheimer’s, so he ended up selling it when his tenant finally died, and sunk all the profit right back into his wife’s nursing home.

Smaller more diverse farms would help, but the grocery stores would have to learn how seasonal, regional crops work. Instead of offering pineapples, kiwis, and strawberries 365 days a year.

Moscow Mitch said he didn’t vote to impeach because he should be criminally convicted instead.

What what’s fucking new with that shit stain of a human?

We tried that with our corgi. She learned to abuse it to go play, then after we worked on that, she learned to pretend pee after going out before trying to play.

If it was really that thick plate it would be, but making any modern vehicle (that’s not meant for military use in hostile territory) out of thick plate is fucking stupid. And keeping thin stainless flat is really tricky, it wants to have at least a bit of curve to stay rigid. It asoc doesn’t like consistent forming, which is why nobody since Delorean has bothered.

Both for weight, and economy, but also for accident safety—good luck of you’re not also in an armored car, and occupant safety, since the crumble zones are greatly reduced and going to transfer way more energy into your soft tissues and internal organs.

But you can throw a rubber baseball at it just fine at least.

Also some Newfies I’ve met have an odd mix of Irish/Scottish/Canadian accent that really threw me the first time I heard it.

I’m not from Canada (but within 1/2 day drive or less my whole life), but I think if the first answer I got was Canada, the next question I might ask would be what part/province?

It’s basically required for a dictatorship as well.

I think that’s one of Putin’s problems. He has to die in office because he doesn’t have a succession that can be trusted to protect him lined up.

Also I think he and his cult would eat up a * shudders * Trump Trump sign.

Fuck I hate this timeline.

The iPhone had 2 interesting things going for it. Everyone had been begging for an iPod phone for years before this happened. Apple had been working on the iPad since the Newton failed and the iPhone was a combination between iPod phone and iPad.

All glass all touch screens were not a thing people thought they wanted before Apple made a really compelling (and pleasing) device.

AR has been a thing for years, but hasn’t garnered the popularity or utility that MP3s and phones ever had. QR codes being the possible exception and only since most phones handle them natively at this stage.

It’s possible that AR just hasn’t had a good enough UX to break the “cool experiment bro” uses imagined so far (because of screen/camera/movement limitations). It’ll be interesting to see if Apple has managed to revolutionize the experience enough to imagine new and more widely needed AR uses or not.
