The home directly next door to our town fire station (less than 200 yards away) burned down when I was in high school. Also it was also the fire chief’s former house.

We kinda always assumed it was for insurance money, but I really have no idea.

But so many of those words are big, and sound smart! How could it be wrong?

Browser too, and the whole activeX, and DirectX api system to practically force windows only development.

That’s make sense. We used to write some ridiculous tests too, but users still managed to find a way

fn union() {
    union union<'union> { union: &'union union<'union>, }
}

Is my favorite.

Getting the money out of elections would go a long way. The problem is that more than half the ones who need to choose to get the money out benefit from it.

I’m not close friends, but I work in the automotive industry/trades, which unfortunately has some real idiots (not all by any means), but also smart real assholes.

Also I’m in an important primary state, where independents can vote for either side to influence nominations. It happens all the fucking time here.

We had real news back then though, and many of us watched it. We knew Bush was a dangerous moron who wanted wars. And we knew Nader was a spoiler, but enough of my idiot classmates still voted against Gore. I was dumbfounded when they would admit it with a shrug. So much so that it has still stuck with me to this day.

Sounds like old tech with high tech control.

This is very similar to why Honda Accord engines from 20 years ago can be tuned and turboed to make 5 times the power they did when new. Control and feedback sensing is super important, and computers are finally cheap and powerful enough (when built reliably and redundantly) to do it.

Coca Cola works really well if you don’t have citric acid on hand. I’ve cleaned car battery terminals with it a bunch of times (over decades). The only bummer is that it’s sticky, but you can drink the leftovers.

Like when your manager is on vacation. So nice to work that week.

Fox News has been spreading this disease since 2000 (and the crazy right wing talk radio even longer).

This is a much deeper and longer problem than many want to admit.

They think they’ll get to be the fascists, but it’s only going to be the billionaires and many millionaires who’ll benefit.
