Change directories in the command line with this one weird trick!

the pair’s private chat history

There is no such thing as a private chat on a platform you do not own. And even if you DO own the platform it is only as private as the participants decide it to be. Hopefully people start to realize this before complete non-privacy becomes the accepted norm.

Stupid Java, runs (slowly) on everything.

Crooks gonna crook, governments will always act in favour of the highest bidder.

It's fucked up that most people will side with 'the company' in situations like this because strikes disrupt their lives. That's the point, these people do a job so essential to modern life that their absence is noticed within a day, yet they are payed so little because the work they do is 'unskilled' or requires only minimal education.

Canning the company negotiators and giving in would still see the employer turn a profit but management gotta stick together lest someone notice they are the tick and we are the dog.

Debian Bookworm, I like to live on the edge. The extremely stable edge.

I think cars should not be dependent on a touch screen for ANY of it's functions (or really have one at all). They are more difficult to use than tactile buttons, distracting, and do not receive long term support from the OEM.

What do you do with a 10 year old car that runs but the touch screen nuked due to age, firmware bugs or mechanical damage? Ford isn't going to be selling replacement units 10 years later and I have yet to see an 'infotainment' system that has aftermarket replacement considerations.

Because that's what they do. Find any reason to feel slighted by 'the other countries' so they can hold it against them.

I've been running Debian for about 7 years as well, never an issue.* I use it for browsing, photo/video editing, coding, gaming with Steam with no complaints. Fedora has always been tempting for it's more up to date packages but Debian's usually have all the features I need.

*I have had self-induced issues by installing .debs from strange places but never with the default repos or even 3rd party repos.

Yes! I have been running Zoneminder since 2020 with no complaints.

For first time/new users I would suggest one thing, try it in a VM first and take notes. Some of the settings take a little tweaking and when you have it all hammered out you can just follow your notes to set up your production machine. When I upgraded my server I was able to set up a brand new ZM instance with 8 cameras in about a half hour because I had my notes.

Good to know I can take it off the to-do list.
