Caffeine dreams‍: Giuseppe Lavazza, chairman of one of the world's leading coffee roasters, expects customers to be able to get their caffeine fix cheaper in the coming months, as consumers begin to benefit from the falling price of wholesale beans. With more than 60% of Americans drinking coffee every single day, you might expect the price of coffee to be headline news. But, even if coffee wholesale prices do tumble, your morning fix — particularly if bought from a cafe — is unlikely to change much. A study in the UK from 2019, reveals the breakdown of the costs of a typical cup of coffee, finding that just ~4% of a your morning cup is actually for the coffee itself — which worked out to about £0.10 ($0.13). The figures would undoubtedly be higher today — a £2.50 ($3.20) cup of coffee in the UK is a rare sight these days — but the proportions would be similar. Indeed, if you have a particularly fancy drink order, with lots of sweeteners or alternative milks, then the actual beans will be an even smaller share of the costs. That means, even if the wholesale cost of coffee were to plunge by 40-50%, the cost savings likely to be passed on to consumers would be unlikely to be more than a few cents, as the price of your daily caffeine fix is much more dependent on shop rent and staff wages. ‍A bitter brew ‍Although a few years out of date, and from just one study in the UK, the breakdown gives a good sense of just how complicated the coffee supply chain is. The coffee roaster usually accounts for most of the cost of the actual coffee, while exporters, transporters and processors take their cuts, leaving the actual grower with around just 10% of the coffee revenue. In this study, that worked to be just one penny from a typical £2.50 ($3.20) cup of coffee. #dataviz #datavisualization #coffee #lavazza

One of the interpretations of all time.

Yeah, I'm using jerboa. Crashed when I first tried to comment, then I submitted the comment again. Apparently the first one went through.

Any strong reasons to switch from KeePassXC?

Same deal with my two cats when they come back from the groomer. They went to the grommer together, they see other getting fur cut, went home together, still don't recognize each other 😑

Most people I know of don't drink from tap water here at all, boiled or not.

Edit: I forgot to share where I'm at lol (Indonesia)

I agree that it might not be a huge jump going to switch. Clever is already a great brewer.

I don't have a clever, but from what I've seen, switch has a slightly better work flow and flexibility.

You can mix immersion and percolation with more ease. That's what I do sometimes, something similar to this recipe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68ZOXrXbVHc

I'm sure you can replicate it using clever, but I believe that involves moving the brewer on and off the cup/carafe/server.

You can do any ratio of steep and release combination easier with switch IMO, just based on observation.

You can buy the size 03 version. That's what I already have actually. With 03, you can brew 30gr of coffee with 450gr of water in one go.

With 02, you can also brew 2 cups, but using release-steep-release method. Open the valve, add 30gr coffee, then 225gr hot water. After water has passed through, close the valve, then add another 225gr water. Steep for 1-2 minutes, then open the valve again.

Aside from that, according to Lance Hedrick, kono and Stagg also fits.

Definitely interested in the Timemore 064, but I already have 1zpresso K-plus. Which makes my desire to buy one really hard to justify lol

Less worry when brewing coffee in the morning when you just wake up lol.

Longer drawdown time though, because there are almost no ribs in the inner wall.
