In https://pglewis.github.io/wca-recent-senior-records/recent/ there are only recents events. And singles and averages are mixed. Also, you’ll have to select 90 days since yellow results from wca-seniors.org are less than 3-month old

@l_inadapte @cubers

There is also a website with Senior Kinch Ranks: https://pglewis.github.io/wca-recent-senior-records/kinch-ranks/
and the Recent Senior Records has a different presentation (all age categories together): https://pglewis.github.io/wca-recent-senior-records/recent/

@threelonmusketeers Those are steps of the #Roux method. It’s not a layer by layer method. The steps are FB, SB, CMLL, LSE (or L6E).

To start, you make a 1x2x3 block on the left side (FB = first block), then a 1x2x3 block on the right side (SB = second block).
Next you permute/orient the corners in 1 alg: the CMLL step (only 42 algs)
And finally you solve the remaining 6 edges (Last six edges: LSE/L6E)

It has a low move count, is more intuitive and less algorithmic. It’s often used in OH.

Usually, FB can be done in less than 8 moves. With unlimited inspection, I usually managed to keep under 8. So 12 felt definitively rusty.

@threelonmusketeers

I haven't done a #speedcubing session for a long time (still a bit of figdet, patterns on big cubes..), and it's showing!
I've forgotten loads of CMLL, my SB is catastrophic, and I've done quite a few FBs with more than 12 moves (not counting all the mistakes). My ao5/ao12/... are nowhere near my best.

Otherwise, I've made a few good resolutions (planned all my FB, SB and CMLL easy...) and managed 2 sub-20s.

Time to get back to it!

cstimer screenshot, Reconstruction tools with insp, exec, turn, tps for fb sb cmll l6e and total cstimer screenshot with mo3, ao5, ao12, ao25 stats. Current and best. 31 solves, 27.23 average FB 4.5, SB 10.62, CMLL 5.49, L6E 6.61

He had a few CR/NR though:
8.46 avg in OH
31.54 single in 555 (WR2)
19.35 avg in 444 (WR2)

But yeah, he set the bar high last year: 9 wr!

I love the "yes! 3!… wait WR!?" reaction.

I think he is the youngest person to get a WR 3x3 single (8yo).

Reconstruction: https://reco.nz/solve/11719

- Xuanyi's 3.05: 33 moves, 10.82 tps
- Yiheng's 3.08: 45 moves, 14.61 tps

[WB] MBLD 63/66, 59:50 by Rowe Hessler

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O31c8FaqJdg

Previous record, Jun 26, 2022 by Graham Siggins: 62/65, 57:47

It’s been a while since Graham Siggins hasn’t broken its record…

In 2007 at the US Open, Rowe Hessler finished first in MBLD with: 5/8 59:20.

(He also has World Championship Podiums in 2009 and 2010 for 2x2x2 (1st), 3BLD (3rd), 3x3x3 (2nd)).

@jxk No, the WCA competition has only 3 to 5BLD. And Multiblind with 3x3.
But people are getting creative and do unofficial events, like square-1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QekhMxc6Kro), megaminx or FTO.

[WB] 10x10x10 BLD 54:43.77 single by Graham Siggins

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS8pFxtzJz8

According to the description, he starting in 2018, going back and forth to MBLD with long breaks. It took him around 85 attempts in total, with multiple sub-1 hour fails, off by 1 or 2 mistakes.

He will now try 11BLD.

[WR] 3x3x3 3.08 single by Yiheng Wang (王艺衡)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BKV7mYhgpI

Previous single by Max Park : 3.13s Jun 11, 2023.

Yiheng was so close to sub-3. A little lock on the pll. I guess that’s why he was both exciting (first time I’ve seen him so happy) and a little bit frustrated.

Yiheng finally has both single and average.

From cuberoot description:
- This is the first time in nearly 7 years that same person has held WR for both 3x3 single and avg. The last person who held this titile was Feliks Zemdegs.
- He is the first person since Feliks Zemdegs to hold the current 3x3 and 2x2 WRs.

So impressive…

@threelonmusketeers What method do you use? what time do you average?
After having a few success at ~5min I stopped doing blind. I should try again. (and maybe 4bld too?)

[–] narusite@piaille.fr 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

@annorax Yes. Here is his times : (5.48) (5.28) 5.31 5.28 5.28
Pretty constant indeed!

[–] narusite@piaille.fr 2 points 6 months ago

@IsoSpandy no idea, I don’t follow ZZ users, but eventually a lucky solve will also happen, maybe this year?

[–] narusite@piaille.fr 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

@annorax It was an already made pair that he manages to keep while placing DR at the same time. Though he could have made FB + SB 1st square in 6 moves instead of 8 if he had taken more time for inspection.
He had some luck with a 4c skip.
But almost 10TPS with a short solve, it’s good to see Roux in a sub-4
