I kind of understand what they're saying, that they too are losing ground vs inflation, but I agree with you, it's pretty hard to empathize. Especially when they say stupid stuff like, "I'm sorry, 2.8 per cent is a bagel and coffee," and, "I got a haircut yesterday and it cost me $40."

Do you mean Doug, or are we speaking ill of the dead?
I'm not sure if that's reason we have people without family doctors in Ontario. According to the latest stats I could find (2019), Ontario has the lowest percentage of residents without a family doctor. Besides a few outliers, basically everywhere in the world has a shortage of doctors so at best you're drawing down on other jurisdictions. The only other point they make is that many doctors aren't choosing family medicine, but I don't feel like we have a glut of specialists?
The article says they sold the property, that's part of the problem.
There was a discussion a couple of years ago around gasoline taxes and how they are supposed to pay for roadway maintenance.
I just want to point out, even if they're supposed to, gas taxes do not pay for roadway maintenance, not by a long shot
Signal is only officially distributed through Google Play, so their APK isn't reproducible, and I believe it still contains binary blobs.
Everyone involved with that project is also probably dead.
Literally, the FIRST sentence of the article is talking about someone who's been involved with Voyager I from the start. Yes, the project has outlasted many of it's original engineers, but to say, "Everyone involved with that project is also probably dead," for a major mission that launched 46 years ago is obviously untrue.
Sure, but any messaging app (including Signal) could have these backdoors in place. Heck, there's even vectors for unrelated apps on your phone to read this data once unencrypted.
Would it not be E2EE? Isn't that one of the reasons for using the Signal protocol?
Maybe this is being too cold-hearted, but we tend to choose pets that live a fraction of a human's life. There are many animals which could make good pets except they live as long as humans (if not a lot longer).
I think what this article was something like,
The biggest tragedy of pet ownership is that sometimes those pets die far too soon due to illness.
Taking the bus turns a 15 minute drive into a two hour drive
If you're talking about your specific situation, sure that might be the case, but it shouldn't be that way in general. I also avoid taking my local public transit because it's so bad, with service that's supposed to be every 15min often 25min late (I've personally waited over 40min). However, that's only with bad service. In a lot of places with good public transit, transit is waaay faster than driving because (rightfully so) they give priority to buses holding 40+ people, instead of cars holding 1.4 people on average
We're not blaming you if you currently take a car. I drove to the grocery store last night because that's the only way to safely get there. It's the system that's the problem.
You also didn't acknowledge the other mobility options available, do none of them apply to you?
I'll agree, with one exception (which might prove the rule): www.ourcommons.ca which hosts official House of Commons petitions (I believe some provinces have a similar website).
