Good job but not everyone has the mental fortitude you have displayed. I know plenty of people who tried going vegan, ate the fake meat and egg stuff, and just went back to the real stuff for the taste

Anyways it's not about the individual level, it's more the social ie the social ingraining to have the form and experience of meat contributes to the "culture" and demand of meat

The problem is that you're still fixated on the form and experience of meat. A full mindset change is more robust.

It's like how fake leather can help replace and reduce real leather usage, but if the trend of desiring leather died out in the first place, the whole problem is dropped altogether

That is not at all what this is like, completely ignorant metaphor

Imagine someone addicted to eating their poop. Perhaps they are reforming their ways, and for some time they take half measures like eating smelly chili. Eventually they realize their unhealthy fixation isn't really overcome by this, so they move onto food that doesn't resemble poop, like a salad maybe

Soo.... something no one tells you, because we all agreed not to let you in on it....we are all philosophical zombies, and the universe was created last Thursday. You are the only actual sentient being, and everyone has been bending over backwards to keep up the rise for you.

The goal was to get you to realize all this by yourself, but I just can't hold it in any longer, sorry to everyone

I know we are currently in the ___ phase but where is the line drawn? Does this ___ justify genocide? Im not inclined to believe so.

The line is genocide, if nothing else. The blanks don't matter. Your position on genocide should be 110% against it, the extra 10% (ideally more) being proactive measures to fight fascism to ensure genocide never happens again in history.

Whoa it's almost like oppressed peoples express solidarity for each other who are in the same situation

There is a baggage associated with the word "cult" now.

It used to mean pretty much a specific practice of a religion. For example, in a polytheistic religion, you can choose a favorite god and perhaps even worship that figure exclusively, even while believing in all the others eg. later Hindu ishtadevata practices

This kind of cult evolved into those around mysteries or mysterious figures (eg. Eleusinia, Mithraism) and real-world figures like monarchs like the Roman emperor. Eventually you have the death cults of the last few decades which cemented the pejorative sense of "cult" and also inspired the sociology around the same. I should also mention, there is a chauvinism in this as well eg. cargo cults

To answer your question, there is this historical context to it. But also the perspective: one can look back through history or across the world to identify "cults" but not recognize that one lives in a culture or participates in cultish behavior themselves

Yeah it's true, and it's common across the Middle East, Africa, and Indian subcontinent too afaik. At least in India, usually adult men wearing surma usually means they are Muslim. But I have worn surma as a young Hindu boy too. All kids wear it up to a certain age, and girls and ladies always wear it.

Also yeah the henna dyed hair is wild, usually old people do that when their hair starts turning white. It feels like my Indian grandparents are going through a punk phase when they show up with orange hair and beards sometimes

Yeah that's kohl, been around in the larger region for a very long time for all genders and ages. I feel pretty wearing it too

An atmosphere helps though

There is a lockdown mode or something in the power menu that should disable biometrics until the next unlock with pin/passcode

Not defending the companies, just something to be aware of if you see a cop coming towards you in the distance
