Add me to list of people who don’t understand not having a case. For me it’s not about the cost of repair, as much as it is the increased usability (grip and slip protection) and not having to worry about having a broken phone (especially when traveling).

The case covering up the iPhone? Yeah, hey… look at me… I have something that literally a billion other people have!

Certainly Apple is saving money from not including the accessories. They're also making money from selling accessories for those who need them. However, there's still a positive environmental impact because not everyone is buying accessories and are either using ones they already have or using alternatives.

Further, Apple can ship time-insensitive accessories via cargo ship which is far more efficient than the way they ship time-sensitive iPhones via air.

Personally, I always hated getting the accessories because I not only already had them, but preferred to use alternatives. It was just wasteful for people like me. For anyone else, they just have to look at it as the iPhone costing what it does plus the cost of the accessories they need to buy and make their decision accordingly as to whether they want to do that or buy an Android or whatever.

I just don't understand the "don't let people buy a la carte, force everyone to buy a bundle of stuff they may not need" mentality.

Thanks.

On my watch, I switch between workout, flashlight, and depth. I don't use it at all on my iPhone and find it annoying in the way it interferes with the volume buttons.

Notably, TSMC is the sole manufacturer for Nvidia's powerful H100 and A100 AI processors, the hardware that powers AI tools like ChatGPT and which also comprises the majority of AI data centers.

This is very weak sauce.

No they weren't. It's not like as if Apple launched iOS 1.0 and said, "that's it gang, we're finished!" They were fully intent on continuing to develop it, often implementing things they were first with from macOS.

Apple does things very methodically and given how problems can have a huge impact on a product representing both what drives a multi-trillion company as well as what depends on carrier service providers from around the world, it's often that jailbreak developers got ahead of what Apple was doing or planning.

Copy & Paste, was first with a jailbreak, but absolutely Apple was going to do this. Video recording, same, and worth noting the jailbreak version sucked. Folders, widgets, control panel... all something Apple had done with macOS long before iOS and were inevitable things.

Don't get me wrong, the jailbreak community back in the day was awesome and provided all kinds of features before Apple got around to introducing them. While many of these were novel and innovative, I wouldn't say the majority didn't have prior art on macOS, let alone to say that "All major iOS features were stolen from jailbreak tweaks".

Also worth noting is that the reason why there was jailbreaking was due to flaws in iOS which potentially posed security risks and Apple patching those is a good thing.

Here were/are 3 things that "reset" the iPhone without requiring restoring anything:

  1. Simple Restart: Hold down the Volume Up and the Side button. Slide to turn off. Turn back on with Side button.
  2. Purge RAM: If you don't have a Home button, go to Settings->Accessibility->Touch->Assistive Touch->On. Unlock your phone. Next, in quick succession, press the volume up button, then press the volume down button, then hold the lock button until a shutdown menu appears. Hold down physical or virtual Home button and enter your passcode when prompted.
  3. Force Restart: Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.

They removed #2. My guess is that they removed this because too many people found out about it and were doing it when they shouldn't be.

If you're having problems with your iPhone, try simply restarting it. This should be a very rare thing to do. Many people never restart their iPhones without issue except for when system updates occur.

When your iPhone freezes up, you may not be able to restart it as described above and a Force Restart may be required. You want to avoid doing this unless it's necessary, and never do this as a habit.

You'll notice they didn't make purging ram or force restarting easy, just like there's no button to tap to Force Quit all apps. There's a good reason for this.

Apple, you're getting so close to what I suggested years ago...

Make something like the Echo Show 10, but instead of a fixed screen, put a MagSafe mount on it. Put MagSafe on iPads. Allow any iPhone or iPad with MagSafe to go into a HomePod mode where it charges while having essentially has the same features and functionality as the Echo Show 10, but you can take your phone/tablet with you when you leave.

Apple is so close to being there with the HomePod and with StandBy for the iPhone.
