Way too unsubtle. Everyone's just gonna laugh and downvote you. You gotta pretend you really want him to get elected, but you're just despairingly concerned because he's old and flailing, and can't possibly hold a candle to Trump and anyway he threw away and betrayed all his voters when he personally bombed Gaza, and anyway you wish we could have Jill Stein and you'll probably vote for her, not because you want Trump to win, but because it's the only real way we'll ever see some progress in this country.

See this is some solid propaganda. He clearly just fucked up because he's old, and it's hard to deny that that's what happened, and it definitely makes him look silly.

It doesn't have anything to do with his record, or what he'll do with another 4 years, or how terrifying the prospect of another Trump presidency would be -- but I think hammering on this kind of thing will be effective. I think you should focus on this kind of stuff (and, the general "the economy is so so so bad" without even referencing Biden, and just trusting that people will connect the dots). I could see that being pretty impactful -- definitely more so than making up things about people walking out of his Morehouse speech, or trying to imply he's corporate-friendly which can lead to teeing people up to come in with "well akshually" and spread information about what he actually did.

So, part of how Biden funded his massive programs on climate change and domestic manufacturing was through a massive corporate tax increase. For one look at the impact, you can check out Amazon's taxes paid per quarter which show a huge spike at the beginning of 2023 when the new taxes went into effect.

Corporations actually should be happy about that tax policy, since building a working economy is also to their benefit even if they have to pay some taxes to make it happen (as opposed to just putting 100% of the burden on the working class until everything at all levels collapses, which is pretty much the point we've reached as of today in this country). But painting Biden as a solely corporate-focused candidate of a piece with the norm for US politicians is, like a lot of emotionally-resonant criticisms of him that get repeated multiple times a day here for some perfectly organic reason, pretty much the opposite of the truth.

If we were planning to do anything about it, this would be relevant information, but as it is, it's more or less like those air crash investigation videos where the plane starts saying "TERRAIN. PULL. UP." and the pilots keep going with the turn they were doing, and you can watch the video and think, Jesus Christ what the fuck were they even thinking.

Link to Extinction Rebellion if anyone wants to get involved in trying to at least mitigate the damage

Somewhere out there is a much more sophisticated joke about spin-2 particles or how USB connectors have spin 1.5 or something, but I am not smart enough to construct that joke, and I think even on its construction the audience for it would be kinda limited.

I am not understanding the reference, what is the patch?

I don't think it's a sincere effort to make Biden appear in touch. It's just a satisfying imaginary timeline.

To me at least, it's funny for the same reason Futurama Nixon in a giant robot body smashing holes in the white house and shooting missiles at his enemies is wonderful; it doesn't mean I like Nixon, but it does make me want to live in that timeline instead of this one, where all the conflict is underhanded and behind the scenes.

A warrant for Netanyahu would be a good idea even if there were some other people at large that we should also be arresting.

But also, in this case Putin already has an ICC warrant. It's caused some issues in the past because e.g. he couldn't attend a diplomatic meeting in South Africa and there was some question about, if he just shows up anyway, are they really going to arrest him as they're required to do, and then it'll be a real shit storm.

From what I remember, he blinked and decided not to show up.

Yeah, fair enough. Like I say, I don't really know.

This was in the US back in the drinking from the hose water days. Probably if something like that happened today, it would be a big deal, yes.

I think for my opinion it is fine. He didn’t hurt the kid in any capacity, and maybe the lesson he taught him will stick with him later, in situations where the consequences aren’t so measured and forgiving. But that’s just my take on it.

I am suspicious. I feel like if this plastic cup I got was exposed to exactly its favorite conditions (which are conveniently difficult to achieve), it still wouldn’t biodegrade (or, worse, would disintegrate into a little pile of microplastics while the manufacturer declared that that meant it was biodegrading).

I have no expertise at all and I’m basically talking purely out of my ass, so maybe I shouldn’t offer any opinion. But the history of plastic recycling makes me cynical about it.

In high school, one of the students in my shop class told a Polish joke.

The teacher was Polish, and was exactly what you would expect from a shop teacher. He heard the joke. Without saying a word, he walked over to the student, picked him up with one hand by his neck, looked at him steadily for a beat while dangling him in the air, and then put him back down and walked away.

Nothing more was said, then or after, and as far as I know the kid didn’t tell any more Polish jokes.
