I had the same thing happen in Battlefield 1942 when I built up the skill of shooting the tank’s main gun to hit planes in midair. It’s not as hard as it sounds, it sends a righteous thrill of victory through your entire body, and it makes you look like a cheater. Great stuff

military has repeatedly said it is not deliberately targeting the media

“ There is no policy of targeting media personnel,”

These are actually two different statements, with a very small, very subtle, but profoundly important difference between them.

some within the IDF appear to have viewed journalists working in Gaza for outlets controlled by or affiliated with Hamas to be legitimate military targets

“affiliated with”

Still pretty much 10% 😢

That’s not the whole story; raw number of members has ticked up but since unemployment is real low now and the rise is pretty slight, the percent of membership is still dropping. I’d love to be able to tell you it’s different, but that is the reality.

This comes right after Israel sending a delegation to the US to “talk about” the war in Lebanon and the so called war in Gaza, too. Presumably to talk about hey you’re gonna bankroll those into the fall, like always, right?

It is just uBlock origin, not some crazy thing

But yes I actually paid for Premium for like a couple of years; it is actually one of the most impactful in my experience in terms of those little “give us $7/mo to improve your internet in some minor way” services

My software configuration is such that whenever I see a YouTube ad on some stranger’s device it is a violently disturbing event

Like wtf why does YouTube have ads now, these are really obnoxious

“Hey that response wasn’t very proportional.”

“Sure it was. You damaged our vessel and we blew the shit out of a big proportional of your entire navy in the space of one eight hour working day and then made you say you messed up and didn’t mean to shoot back or anything and we’re good now.”

They also don’t bother to run retail locations or advertising or anything. Just phone + app for payments + cheap + good luck

I and friends have had Mint and on the whole it is great

Let’s just say, you don’t pay… with money.

Yeah. Most of them are like that - coverage of the protest. Or, some have coverage of the wrong “antisemitism” reaction to the violence, which obviously is relevant, without for some reason singling out only Biden’s rendition of it (e.g. including Newsom or Bass etc).

(Actually - the thing I really wish they would do is report on the “antisemitism” accusation and then break down exactly why it is wrong. Every single Lemmy commenter - or the vast majority of them - can read the coverage and explain why them singling out this synagogue for this protest had nothing to do with Judaism (it was actually in ozma’s story, I think, that the pro-Israel side actually also attacked a rabbi who was trying to break it up). So… why can’t the journalists figure that out?)

Actually, if you take out the New York Times and Forbes, almost no one decided to include Biden front and center in their headline about it.

But… why? I am honestly baffled as to the business reasons behind the decision. I don’t think people are sick of propaganda. People love propaganda.

But it’s hard for me to say you are wrong, also, simply because like I say I have no idea what the thinking behind it is.

Google News can do the same thing (although you’ll have to do your own reliability ranking) - search for “la protest” or something and you can do the math and take note of how many of them are simply covering that it happened, and how many and which ones are making Biden into a key feature of their headlines.
