My current laptop is 2012/2013 retina MacBook Pro 15โ. There was no alternative to this laptop back then - almost no laptops with IPS screens, and none with HiDPI like that at all. Battery life was better than competitors thanks to a 100 Wh cell. Could drive 3 external displays + internal. Awesome build quality and overall internal design.
Modern MBPs have similar appeal - with much higher performance than alternatives thanks to M2 architecture and incredible power efficiency. 120Hz mini-LED screens are class leading (I prefer them to AMOLED / OLED due to better color uniformity in general and no angle dependant color shift). External display support is absolutely insane with up to 3x 6K 60Hz + 1x 4K 144Hz on the M2 Max chip. Best trackpad in the world for decades which I prefer to mouse for everything except gaming.
Ecosystem integration is just a bonus at this point.
