XFCE supports fully configurable keyboard shortcuts

Could you help me set whisker-menu to open on meta key release? This is default behavior on every other DE, yet seems completely unsupported on XFCE. It needs to explicitly be on key release, otherwise it breaks every single keyboard shortcut that relies on the meta key.

This comment reads like you've never actually tried Gnome with proper extensions (like arc menu and dash-to-panel), because those aren't even comparable in quality. I mean that when comparing to KDE as well.

I want to love XFCE, but whisker-menu doesn't support opening it on meta key release, which is baffling to me. Also the lack of night mode, which redshift is just throwing a random program into the mix. Which if you don't mind that, then you wouldn't have a problem with Gnome extensions in the first place.

That's a really extreme and insulting comparison. Can you post an example of anything that's remotely questionable content from healthygamersgg?

I go pretty hard core while making sure it "just works". People will mention LibreWolf, but the fingerprint resistance causes too much breakage for me. I install uBlock Origin no matter what, enable every single filter except the language lists. I install Dark Reader and set it to a timed schedule which is comfy for me.

Then I install NoScript then enable "Temporary set top level sites to trusted" and enable media under the trusted tab. This fixed majority of the breakage, but you sometimes need to tweak it. You can just not use NoScript if it's too much of a hassle, uBlock Origin does basically everything you need anyways.

Also of course if you're using stock Firefox, make sure to turn off analytics and telemetry in the settings, go to about:config and set pocket.enabled (or something like that, idr) to false. Then I set my default search to duckduckgo.

I assume you mean just subtly mentioning something without outright saying it. That's just a social skill, since some things are better said that way.

I much prefer having Linux forced on me in comment sections instead. Linux is the operating system I use btw.

'Hey, you have to take that down. Don’t you know what that means?’ For me it was synonymous with a right-wing hate group. Thankfully, my friend noticed me staring at the frog, and he soon set me straight.” Stewardson went on to explain that, in Sanskrit, the word Pepe roughly translates to “Feels good, man.”

Judging by a default browser is also really misleading. Firefox is by far the most private with extensions, no competition.

This is normal, it'll stabilize. Lemmy development is certainly needed, but what we can do is just keep the content rolling despite the issues.
