I like the idea, but it should also include another feed specifically with subscribed smaller communities, since they'd still get buried under this system.

Honestly don't bother with the customization by the user. That seems to be the solution to when anyone might object to something, but it just creates more confusion to the average user. Maybe keep it as a setting in the instance config. Less is more.

That's what Session is

Which is actually on fdroid, unlike Signal who explicitly refuses to support degoogled ecosystems

Yeah and that doesn't change the fact that decentralization is better for freedom

this guy just learned about discord general chats lol

they're all this bad, and also they're absolutely dogshit for open source software so I have no idea why people make them

What a weird question, also that was never the case in the first place. You can still accomplish this with a simple bash script too.

These people aren't dumb, they do it intentionally and know exactly what they're doing. Probably to either control a narrative, religious political reasons, or just bigotry.

As long as you can post links or upload images, there is an avenue for CSAM to be spammed. Beehaw should probably start with a whitelist and slowly expand. Refuse to federate with anyone that has open registration.

I really like churches, they are a good way to find a strong community. It can be really hard as an adult in a new area to meet people, and a church can basically solve that for you. I'm in a very religious area too where they desperately want me to go to one.

Also I've kind of understood "praying" now. I meditate a lot, and the goal to focus on your inner breath and be one with the present moment. Praying is kind of the opposite, instead of focusing on your inner self, you're focusing on something greater outside of you, like trying to connect your body to the universe. It's like trying to imagine you're part of something greater and it's kind of comforting.
