I understood what you were suggesting, it was just weak.

Americans say "zee", which is comparable to the letters I gave as examples.

between zee and zed, zee makes more sense with it being inline with other letter's pronunciations. What does zed come from?

Admittedly, I do not know the history of the character's development.

Was watching a series on TSA catching smugglers. One piece was on them finding a bunch of VIN plaques being mailed from Mexico to New York and it immediately popped in my head: what if they're coming to the US, buying those wrecked cars to take to Mexico and repair, then removing the plaques and sending them to accomplices back in the US to steal another of the same model/description.
