Masterpi-ece. Pi-eak fiction.
I like this episode better than EP5. From what I understand, Takopi's deus ex machina (yes, it is) only happened because he regained his memories. Is it because Shizuka bonked him with a rock back in Tokyo? The power involves sacrificing himself, so it's not normally done, but it's OP (O-Pi?). It fixed the broken time machine camera. It probably required sacrificing himself because Takopi had to transfer his essence across specific points in a timeline, sorta like how ~~O-pi-Wan~~ Obi-Wan became one with the Force. In effect, he's able to give suggestive messages to Azuma, Shizuka, and Marina at various points in space-time. Perhaps, our characters were also given a vague idea of what their alternate timeline counterparts experienced. For me, the ending works, even if it's rather convenient and cheesy.
Shizuka finally breaking down, and also the moment Takopi let go of her to perform his sacrifice... it's... very... sad. 😢. Takopi meditating in the place where he first met Shizuka and the scene by the cherry blossom tree got me, dangit.
Six episodes is the exact length this anime needed. I'm wondering how Death Note would be like if it ended with 25 episodes rather than 37. I think I've already seen it by watching this show. Perhaps Takopi gave me some measure of happiness too, lol.
This show wouldn't work as a movie because the various character arcs would be glossed over if you watch all of this at once in the span of 2+ hours. You need time to digest what you see.
I didn't plan to watch Takopi's Original Sin. Only did so because of unforeseen circumstances. But I'm glad it happened.
Guess what my new #1 overall anime is.

That attempt at a death game is so pathetic it's just sad, lol.
Nico, watch where those fingers are pointing!

This is peak jawline. You can't convince me otherwise.
Shizuka went to Tokyo, hoping she's gonna meet Chappy. Except that Marina is right, Chappy's dead. Shizuka went full psycho on Takopi.
And a plot twist that I didn't expect. It turns out, Takopi originally is supposed to help Marina. Being the clueless octopus blob he is, he concluded that killing Shizuka in the past would bring Marina her happiness. Cue the monkey's paw curling. And then, the real (true) original sin of Takopi is revealed.
Somehow the plot twist works. I hope the final episode ties everything together well. This series has been so good.
Edit: Only found out after reading the MAL discussion, they did the distracted boyfriend meme

Is Yamada Naoko involved somehow here?
