I hope it's not for a long time, I hope we can hold out longer, but eventually physical games will 100% go away. It already happened to PC a long time ago, and mobile exists as a platform that never knew physical to begin with. It's only a matter of time before that's every platform.

If the reason not to create a community on instance X is because instance X may someday disappear... isn't that true of all instances? No one knows what the future may hold for any instance.

Might as well pick somewhere that's present today, and if the worst case scenario happens, we can always move. I would even argue one of the greatest strengths of Fedi is that no matter what happens to any one instance, the network is still standing.

People who complain this loudly about mods tend to be living proof of why mods are important.

Every "entry level" job opening asks for five years of experience with some technology that has only existed for two years.

I got my CS degree eight years ago, and it's been gathering dust as I've been working an unrelated part-time job instead. At this rate I feel like it might be too late for me, having no real work experience at my age is something recruiters probably see as a red flag...

Do you mean that we should simply surrender to the right and let them oppress marginalized groups?

War has been declared, and we can't just plug our ears and pretend it's not happening.

They're patching it to be playable offline, but only if you've previously downloaded the game.

Why not just leave that version up instead of delisting it? They could even sell it. Would be seen as a success story for preservation instead of another loss, and it's especially baffling because it's a fully avoidable loss.

The broadcast part is what matters, not the character limit. A normal SMS message has just one recipient, maybe a few more for a group MMS, but a Tweet goes out to the world wide web. Although Twitter was designed such that it could be used via SMS, that never defined the purpose of the platform, and changes to the SMS protocol do not obsolete Twitter's use case.

Funny, because I still say the sequels aren't as bad as the prequels.

Yamai Ren. The character whose entire gimmick is that her horrible behavior is played off with "it's funny because she's a lesbian."

Well perhaps they could do a movie focused on Violet working with another client, since that's where the show always shined best. Maybe she should could tutor a young girl at a private academy or something. That might make for a good enough movie.

If you're specifically looking for shows to watch with your daughter, I would highly recommend Little Witch Academia for that demographic.
