If Fediverse is successful and reddit continues its descent then I can see it in 5-10 years, similar to how Digg tried to reimagine itself to stay relevant.
misk
I meant that you can't chose side for voting buttons, it's just on/off, unlike thumbnail which can be set to left/right.
There seem to be massive content propagation issues at the moment. Compare comments and upvotes:

The issue is tracked on Github but I'm not even sure the scale of the problem is being acknowledged by Lemmy devs.

At least it's on sunaurus radar since he's active in that issue.
Actually I think I confused Wefwef behavior with Memmy :D
Sorry!
It looks like it was removed by a mod. If a user deleted it it would have in place of comment text rather than . This user also deleted his account but that wouldn't delete his posts/comments.
~~I meant that it's kind of weird that clicking thumbnails opens an image rather a link it was pulled from.~~
Loading thumbnails from more sources sounds great though. I would prefer for Lemmy instances to do this ultimately but I'll take what I can get.
It's almost there, all I'm missing is having thumbnail leading to actual linked content and optional voting buttons on the right.
It appears there's an issue with parsing links from kbin though, they're completely missing from compact posts.
Should but barely does.
The Verge peeps are rather enthusiastic about Activity Pub based platforms, I wouldn't attribute bad intent there.
Linux is used by most of the world but it's either backend where techies take care of things or super streamlined experiences like Android etc.
I knew this part would ruffle some feathers since whomever is reading it here is probably on board with Lemmy/Kbin.
I do think that for many it's too early but there's now significant interest into making everything a bit more stable and streamlined. I think Mastodon is already there but it is suffering from bad rep from their own waves of migration. I'm a bit worried it'll be the same for Lemmy.
Big Bottom by Spinal Tap.
