My wife has ADD and she needs medication to live. Her inability to filter stimuli means constant migraines. We're not from the US but even here there's been shortages of Methylphenidate-like substances and it's scary as fuck because not only does it mean hell but she also can't really function in daily life.

For me it never shows a result but I am able to browse to the community on my instance and subscribe from there
My current flow is: search "!selfhosted@lemmy.world", wait a few seconds, browse to https://ymmel.nl/c/selfhosted@lemmy.world - when it opens I'm able to subscribe.
One of the best tips I can give is: document (and use docker/docker-compose).
Start off with just typing it in a textfile somewhere and gradually move to using Obsidian or something, before you know itr you've setup a bookstack instance that you'll reference when eventually shit breaks :P
I've kinda been trimming the amount of services I've exposed through subdomains, it grew so wild because it was pretty easy. I'd just set a wildcard subdomains to my ip and the caddy reverse proxy created the subdomains.
Just have a wildcard A record that points *. to your ip address.
Even works with nested domains like "home." and then "*.home"
Goed initiatief!
As anything it'd start with the techies, the platform becomes stable and tools are developed to make onboarding easier. My intention is to replace any communities that I can replace with Lemmy. We'll see from there. The !selfhosted@lemmy.world community is already taking off (naturally), now I am kinda hoping !Eredivisie@feddit.nl and an OSRS (2007scape) community takes off.
Audiobook issue has been solved by using audiobookshelf. It's genuinely already great with native apps and even android auto integration.
