I created a new username on lemm.ee yesterday because lemmy.world was having issues. Took me about an hour to set up all of my subscriptions again.

But there are a ton of open instances for people to join, if new people would spread the load it’d make for a better experience for everybody.

I stopped having issues when I switched instances, so that sounds more like it’s just lemmy.world groaning under the pressure of all the recent sign ups and activity more than a Memmy problem.

I actually have it associated with a free cap one 360 savings account (like, account details, no debit card associated) with just enough in it to cover the bill in case I forget to pay it with my preferred payment method. As long as you pay a couple days before autopay was supposed to hit, it’s fine. For me, for example, autopay would be on the 5th of each month but I have a calendar reminder to pay manually on the 2nd of each month - but you can even schedule the payment if you want to, like when you get your bill you can set it up to charge your card whenever as long as you don’t touch your autopay method.

It’s been working for me for a couple months. No issues so far. If T-Mobile changes things to disallow the discount this way, then this doesn’t apply but as of right now, July 4, 2023 I’ve done it the last 3 billing cycles and it is working currently.

Yeah I have an old savings account I keep just enough for my bill that I set up as the autopay account in case I forget to pay manually on my card. If something happens, it’s separate from all of my other money so it won’t destroy my life for a while while I fight to get my money back.

You can tell T-Mobile to have autopay on a debit card or bank account but still pay with whatever payment method you want, it’s just an extra step of going in to manually do it every month.

Three total, but was using lemmy.world as my main until recently with all the groaning under the pressure of all the new signups so yesterday I spent about an hour or so methodically recreating my subscribe feed on lemm.ee

Nothing at all against the admins over at .world but when it’s pushing the absolute limits of capacity with all the new people coming by, it makes for a different experience all together on a smaller instance. Course because it’s hiccuping over there I’m seeing some significant delays in federation but whaddyagonnado.

Didn’t you just question the decision to defederate from exploding-heads a week ago when the users there were posting racism, hatefulness, bigoted speech, etc?

If you didn’t like that defederation, why do you want another defederation? Sounds hypocritical.
