News Source Update: New Additions and Changes!

Hello everyone!

Some changes for the Atlanta News community's news bots:

What's Changing?

New Backend Process: More reliable, better, faster, more productive.

Decaturish is removed, since they no longer publish an RSS feed.

Atlanta Police Department feed was fixed from a changed RSS feed URL.

New Sources!

  • Georgia Recorder: A nonprofit news outlet providing in-depth reporting on Georgia politics, policy, and issues that affect the state, with a recent focus on energy and the environment.
  • ArtsATL: Your go-to source for the latest on Atlanta's vibrant arts and culture scene, covering everything from theater and dance to visual arts and music.
  • Atlanta Press Collective: A community-focused press collective delivering grassroots journalism and stories directly from Atlanta's neighborhoods.
  • Capital B Atlanta: A vital nonprofit news organization that centers on the Black experience, reporting on critical issues and untold stories for and about Atlanta's Black communities.

If you have any other suggestions, feel free to send them along!

In the testing, there were some double-posts of articles. That shouldn't happen going forward.

It's Michael, the admin for yall.theatl.social, and operator of theATL.social service.* I've been impressed with the number of subscribers, comments, and interaction on this community. I created this Lemmy server and this /c this because I was tired of /r/Atlanta's moderator issues.

I'm doing a review of news sources - let me know, what's working well, what needs to improve, and what sources should be removed.
