They vetoing it because the US proposed a conditional ceasefire while Russia and China want an immediate unconditional ceasefire.

Buying anything in a capitalist country makes you a consumer.
All your options are "capitalistically aggressive". It's a sign of immaturity to me that people think they're above it all while still being totally and utterly dependent on capitalist economics. Acting like buying a fair phone makes you better than others is just laughable. It's a drop in the bucket compared to all your other unavoidable contributions to capitalists.
Not to mention that many of these "better" options are only available to people with money, which makes the entire claim even more ironic. Many of us going this "alternate" less aggressive route can only do so because we benefit from inequality in the first place.
Your argument in no way refutes the point the comic makes.
Buying a used Thinkpad doesn't change the fact that it was made by slave labor. It might make you feel better to buy one, but it changes absolutely nothing. You still bought an item made in part by slaves or near-slaves. And you're keeping the market alive for that to continue.
Let's say you do this. Now you just need to buy a slave labor-free phone, car, TV and hundreds of other items. Not to mention you're paying taxes to a capitalist government.
Anyone who thinks you can escape the consequences of capitalism while existing in a capitalist country is just full of it. It's like the leftist version of sovereign citizen nonsense
Interesting, that hasn't been my experience. I found that French people appreciated that I'd made an attempt and then they'd talk to me in English if they spoke it. Sometimes they just replied in French as well and then I'd ask if they spoke English because my French sucks.
I see it on my pixel 5a on Android 14 as well. Guess that solidifies my decision to move to Apple once this phone dies
Fair enough. There's really no reason to not be cautious with any company, especially startups, so I can see where you're coming from. I guess I'm just glad to see someone else seeing market value in gaming on Linux.
Agreed. I guess I'm just happy that the market is big enough that someone that is trying to get into it now.
So a bit easier but still not first class citizens citizens, by definition. It is called steam os after all, so I don't necessarily expect anything different, but this company wants to offer something new. Seems like this os is less dependent on steam integration, which I would view as a plus.
To be fair, Congress wouldn't be so inept if it weren't for the filibuster, which was never intended to be abused the way it is now. I'd be somewhat ok with the Senate if filibusters only required a simple majority to break again.
It's crazy to me that this got 61 upvotes while the main concern here, that 30,000 unrelated people had their data handed over to the government, is just an aside in point 1.
It really concerns me that people think any of this reasonable. If this is "reasonable" then there's nothing stopping cops from getting all of our data, whenever they want it. All they have to do is find one suspect who watched one video.
That's fucking crazy and clearly unreasonable. Take my downvote for having an exceptionally bad opinion on this topic.
