Okay but that would involve whoever is in charge there to think longer than 10 seconds.
You could buy a cheap router, put your modem in bridge mode, and set the Wi-Fi SSID and password combo to be the same as your modem’s and none would be the wiser. Then you’d have control over your network. That said, if you have the same modem that I do (from shaw) a cheap router will not have the same performance as the one shaw provides. But a used UniFi WAP would outshine the shaw provided modem any day.
Unfortunately in this case privacy isn’t free.

One thing to note about immich is that they use a proprietary file structure so you cannot just throw your existing pictures folder at it and have it non-destructively index them. It’s in their roadmap to change this behavior but for me it’s a deal breaker. I use photoprism and it works great for me.
Take on a new project. With that comes more learning than you’ll ever get from reading a few articles. Set up a NAS, build a router, run Ethernet cables through your house, dual boot Linux, or something. It’s fun, you’ll learn a lot, and you will become more useful as a person. Just remember, though, when your aunt says her printer is broken, tell her you know nothing about computers!
I could be mistaken but I think threads might use your Instagram account. Which can be connected to Facebook but not necessarily. So I think they’re marketing it as such.
