Wow slskd has come a long way since I used it last. I tried for what seems like years for it to work but it would always restart and set all settings to default.

Will spin this up again to see how it goes.

Yes exactly. QuickSync has been on Intel CPUs (i5 and up) since Sandy Bridge. But I’ve heard that only since 4th gen has it been out.

I would recommend a used SFF PC for docker, and a separate NAS like a Qnap for file storage.

For years I have been trying to get Home Assistant to work nicely with my garage door opener. I used a MyQ system that would constantly go offline and just recently switched to an ESP based switch.

What makes it Apple related is that I installed HomeKit Bridge which bridges all compatible entities from Home Assistant to HomeKit. The new garage door switch is now reliable enough that I can now say “Siri open the garage door” and immediately it will open.

Only Apple for the first 5% of the automation, but boy after all the headaches I’ve suffered to reliably open my garage door, this one feels so damn good.

If you are wondering why I don’t just use a radio remote, I do. But no matter which remote I try, I cannot get them to work through the steel door, they will only work reliably if I am beside the garage, not in front of it. Also when I’m out for a walk or a bike I don’t usually bring the radio remote. So this automation gets used about 3-4 times per day. Plus it will remind me if the door was open for more than 3 minutes!

This is company wide and countless complaints have been made.

My company recently started using MS Authenticator for 2FA in our emails. At first I was pleased about the extra security. But the way they implemented it is so fucking bonkers I can’t even handle it.

When you log in, it tells you to check your phone. On your phone you have to enter your password, then wait about 10 seconds, use biometrics, then they show you a number, and then ask you to type that number - on your phone, the same fucking device they showed it to you. And if you miss the number flashing, the text box where you enter the number covers the number so you have to tap “I can’t see the number, hide this box”. Then, if you’re trying to check your email on mobile, you have to force quit Outlook because it won’t load new emails until it launches.

The worst part is that you lose your token two times a day. So you have to log in twice a day on every device you use. It’s such a hindrance to productivity it’s insane.

Speeds will be limited to 512kb down and 16kb up after user uses over 1Gb of bandwidth.

“Specifically, the first tool it rolled out is Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection, which protects games launching on Nintendo's hybrid console from piracy.”

I thought that because historically Nintendo has been very anti emulation and blocking emulation is one of the features of this DRM.

Curious why I was downvoted for providing the source that informed my interpretation. Am I being toxic or not contributing to the conversation?

Not cheap but well worth the price IMO.

I thought they would implement Denuvo in this one. That’s the only thing I’m surprised about. Switch emulation is incredible these days.

Vinegar for iOS is worth adding to this list.
