Like I said, they must do something different here, which isn’t surprising if true.

Most of the chains you mentioned have no presence here, it’s all mostly local individual shops, many are mom and pop variety. I think RoundTable is the only other large chain that has a presence on this island and the quality is dubious.

That might be why the pizza hut here is relatively better than elsewhere, they have to compete with local offerings that are superior, but usually more expensive.

Not minimizing or dismissing what you’re saying, but they must do something different over here, even as a franchisee, because it’s not the best but not that bad either. I can’t imagine what exactly, but we have other chains that I’d avoid first. Papa Johns doesn’t even have one location on this island. I think they’re all on Oahu with maybe one on the big island.

Somewhere you just made Papa John smile.

I drive to a local one all the time for the carry out only special. There’s usually a line for pick up.

and, conservative provocateur Dinesh D’Souza, who ultimately did not show up.

Hey, maybe things are getting better.

I just want to commend you on asking for help, and based on your post and replies, it sounds like you can at least offload the belief that you hate children, because it doesn’t seem that way, only that you’re very triggered by the noise, which I can totally relate to. It happens for me with kids and barking dogs, and I have to manage the sound with music and earbuds. Sound sensitivity and being stressed by it is very real for a number of conditions or conditioned mentalities, so I wouldn’t be so hard on yourself about it when it’s clear you’re empathetic and don’t want to feel that way, but seeking therapy with someone familiar with such reactions is probably a good idea. Though ultimately personal noise management may still be a big part of the solution.

This could be incorrect, but a psychopath generally wouldn’t ask for advice about it because they wouldn’t see anything wrong with it.

The domain says Twitter. It’s fucking Twitter.

Soon Elon will ban his Twitter account again.

~~I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that is something signed by choice, saying that the prisoner doesn’t want to be resuscitated if they die. I don’t think that is forced on them, but again, I could be wrong.~~

edit: nvm, I get what you’re saying now

For me there’s a number of other coping mechanisms, like the usual breath work to try to be more meditative and objective about something, but often I employ the “at least it’s not” approach to bridge the gaps and minimize it in comparison to something worse. It’s often possible to invent a silver lining.

Such as taking a moment to think “as least it’s not shit” when the dog tracks in mud, or “at least he isn’t physically pounding the TV when he wants to watch it.” Just anything that I would rather not be dealing with more than the current thing.

It’s an aggravating world and reality. Now more than ever. Figuring out how to not be aggravated by it constantly is a lifelong challenge. I’m still working on it.

Yeah, it’s easy to hide but difficult to show hidden in most apps. That’s why I appreciate Avelon’s “Show Read Posts” option under the 3 dots on the main feed.
