hmm.

In France, we like to give lessons in secularism to the whole world. It is not here that a president would take an oath on the Bible! The problem is that this great national narrative is sometimes accompanied by monumental hypocrisy. In reality, there is nothing particularly neutral or exemplary about the system in place in France.

France is not really different from other European countries when it comes to religion. And often "laicité" is used to enforce an "identity" politics based on Christianity. Like, Sarkozy and his bullshit "Loi interdisant la dissimulation du visage dans l'espace public" (law forbidding the veil)? Or the early debate about burkini that is on ALL the medias?

But tell yourself that christianism has long gone extinct in France, sure, lol.

technical solution are palliatives, but why not...

yes, it's the same for everybody. and sometimes you just encounter positions that are just so pure lunacy that you feel the URGE to say something. Hours wasted, goals forgotten, loved ones sitting in houses with each other distracted all day by technology made by the hands of other poor souls in sweat shops in a foreign land.

most of the time, debating online is just useless. frustrating. pointless. who cares if somebody is wrong on the internet.

you are forgetting clinton war crimes in europe (serbia) and obama war crimes in north africa (libya)

In 2019 (or was it 2018?), i joined Mastodon within a now presumably defunct instance. I noted that the community was absolutely toxic and neurotic, in contrast to Twitter. And that says a lot. Cliquish bullshit. I deleted my accounts. Perhaps now it's better...

Recently i joined lemmy, bcs on reddit saying that you don't think fomenting a war is a good thing gets you permabanned. Reddit used to be a relatively free and welcoming place, with different opinions and a good degree of tolerance. Now it's just neo-liberals ghouls and bleeding hearts liberals.

I am very sorry to hear that :///

Imagine growing up with this mentality, being so scared of "outside", public transport, walking alone, etc... how this can influence the sensibilities, the mindset, and finally the politics of the people involved? Young adults that are requested to be indoor at 8pm in front of their computer or phones doing bullshit alone; either idealizing or demonizing a world they don't know and they don't want to know.

And that's supposed to be the country's elite, lol. This gated community mentality is and will be absolutely detrimental for everybody involved.

“Most cats are probably better off being able to go outside, but not all of them,” Bjarne Braastad tells sciencenorway.no. He is a retired professor in ethology, the study of animal behaviour, at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).

According to Braastad not all cats want to be outside. If the cat has only ever lived inside from when it was a tiny kitten, then it would be perfectly fine for it to live inside for the rest of its life also."

https://sciencenorway.no/animal-behaviour-animal-welfare-cats/is-it-cruel-to-keep-your-cat-indoors/2107167 so, yeah, there is a movement to keep cats indoor, but it's some pseudo scientific internet thing, that is mostly a thing in anglo-countries* (https://icatcare.org/indoor-only-or-outdoor-access/). While other countries see it as pure animal cruelty "It is animal cruelty not to let them do what they like."
