This episode in a nutshell, for me: those poke a jaguar with a short stick and those who are wiser than that. Laurel/Sairitsu is handling Makoto in a cunning and smarter way, while the Hopleys family... eh.

...but then the jaguar turns upside down for belly rubs. Goddammit Makoto, you almost spilled the beans about being from another world with the kudzu vs. medicine reading of "kuzu"!

False compared the situation of Japanese in Laurel with Latin. False is extra messy to explain stuff, and this info is second-hand for them, but I think that I got it:

  • Japanese as used by Makoto would be like Vulgar Latin. It's simply a language spoken by a population.
  • Japanese as used in Laurel would be like Mediaeval + Modern Latin, after the Romance split. It's a prestigious variety, partially derived from the above, without native speakers.

I watched this episode a few days ago, apparently it was leaked.

The manga is fun and the first episode was decent enough, so I'm planning to watch this series.

Damn great episode to start the second part of the season: some adventure, romance, new plot (Zanoba with the doll), and the best of all: THE ED ARC IS GONE!

And it's great to see Rudeus evolving as a human being. Specially through his interactions with Sylphy: the difference in his mindset from when they first met to now is huge, and yet it was done through small steps.

What a great episode! I love the indirect [and unknowing!] display of power that Rimuru does through Diablo. And the options that Diablo offered to the kingdom are smart - it gives them a false belief that they have choices.

And Shion being cute and all proud of her job. Damn that cooking skill :3

I love the new OP. It's fun, but it conveys really well that the party runs nonstop into troubles (getting "cooked"), while playing with the topic of the series.

Kabru for me is one of those characters that I love as a character - he plays a huge role for a side char, his antics are interesting to watch, and he fills a "character role" well, without being shallow. As a person though? I'd hate him, and I can't help but agree with OP calling him "punchable".

I enjoyed the first episode. Perhaps because I used to follow the manga, so it gives me a different view on it - expectations on the characters and the relationship becoming deeper.

Still, note the "used to follow". Eventually it becomes stale; the anime might go this way, too. Dunno - I'll give the next episode a try, and see how it turns out.

It worked - thanks.

I'm trying to update the thread, but even if I click "save" the changes do not go through. Any idea why?

[Also, thanks for pointing out the new disc thread!]

It'll likely keep the brutality across the series - Goburou isn't exactly "delicate".

I wasn't even aware that it leaked early - to be honest I saw the episode online in gogoanime.

I've just watched Tensei Kizoku. The related manga series is no masterwork, but it's fun; and the animation kept its "childish hopefulness" mood really well. And it delivered well the points behind Ars meeting Rietz:

  • the prejudice against the Malkan
  • Rietz being grateful to Ars for saving him from famine, and trusting him
  • the test not being for Rietz' fighting ability, but also for Ars' talent recruitment one

Re:Monster: I also expect some controversy, as a lot of people don't get that it's fantasy (and one within a "dog eats dog" world.) The manga feels repetitive after some time but the most interesting part is the beginning, so I think that it's worth watching it.

Overall I liked the pacing, and that they kept the "day ##" template from the manga.

TsukiMichi: my bet is that they're doing bits of both cutting and rearranging - the story is good, but there are some parts that are simply better skipped as unnecessary. What I am excited the most is that they might develop further a bit of the WN

WN spoilerswhen Makoto eventually gives up his status as "permavirgin MC" and return both Mio and Tomoe's affection. For me it's that threshold that says "now he sees himself as part of that world, and willing to create deeper bonds with people there".
