Firstly, I would just like to refute 'If all knowledge is based on faith, then is science reliable?' because I've seen it been made before to argue [random-bullshit-thing] is worth considering. Science isn't based on knowledge, it's based on experimental results, models, and extrapolation. Actual faith is not based on that.

There's a really good argument to be made that our senses are not telling us the truth, they just tell us what is beneficial to survive and reproduce. However, this is not the case for instruments that measure, say, gravitational waves.

There is a real reality out there, and it's unlikely we can perceive it. Perhaps the universe happened all at once, but our brain processing happens in consecutive slices of reality, so we perceive time.

Personally, my (pessimistic) gut feeling is that we don't exist. How could anything? It's that Prime Mover argument. Because the Big Bang, because multiverse bubbles colliding...

I think the universe might not actually exist, nothing does. But the potential possibilities make it exist relative to the baseline of nothing. Just like when you climb Everest, your total altitude change is 0 because coming down cancels out going up. The universe is just a potential that is cancelled out by something else, so existence remains at 0 in total.

"My food is included in rent. Which is convenient for day-to-day eating but gives me less capacity for cooking my own meals. Like, I admit it, the system works really well for normal people, I’m just a weirdo who likes tinkering with recipes, hosting dinner parties, and whatnot"

There, I highlighted the absurdity even more for you. You're not a wierdo, you're a tech-chef.

Uhhh... is this fake news?

'... on track to produce more oil than any country in history...' is not the same as ' IS producing more oil than any country in history'??

No, but it's more subtle than 'free market.' There should be some mandatory national holidays.

This gives employees the opportunity to exchange shifts and have time off during their non-Christmas cultural holidays.

This is the way. For people who really want to have other days off for their cultural holiday, they can swap shifts with other employees who will be happy to work those days.

Justif-eye-able? yes.

This pre-supposes distinct 'souls'. There is only one soul, one 'awareness'. We are just fragments of that awareness.

THE awareness, the base Experencier of reality does experience the best life imaginable, and everything else.

Is the best life one without suffering, or one where suffering is experienced and then alleviated? That's a better question.

That was yesterday in my timezone. Yes, I spent Christmas Day with family a significant drive away.

Almost none; gas stations, some restaurants and dairies. Most were closed.

Thankfully we had rain all day, a nice change back to traditional rainy and humid Christmas Days.

This is actually fucking scary.

They also took issue with him being brought back to life as he’d signed a ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ order years earlier, The Des Moines Register reported at the time.

This sets the precedent that the convict is no longer in possession of their own body and life.

"Death is no escape. You will suffer as long as we want you to."

Welcome to the birth of Hell.

They're jealous of the Muslims and Hindus who already have all that going on.

Maybe I can find Alien VHS rip here..

I really want to get this. Poor quality video and audio, some of those classic VHS lines across the screen...

For me it's nostalgia and also fits with the analogue/early digital type vibe of the ship and equipment.

I'm sure a VHS rip must exist somewhere, anyone know where I could find one?

Let me know if there is a better place for enhancement requests.

To combat spam, is it possible to enact rules like this?

Well I got past the patellar tendonitis and now we're back to our old friend IT band pain.

What exercises/strategies/changes in running technique have you found helpful for this?

I've started running (because I needed to do something) and I've motivated myself by paying for a 11km run (and I'm not wasting that good money I paid!).

I'm now able to run 3.4km without breaks. I've never been able to run like this before, so it took a while to get to that point, but it feels great.

It's super hard to motivate myself so I had a few tricks to get me outside and then it's just a matter of moving over the same easily achievable route until I'm home, and it doesn't take too long or feel like too much.

I highly recommend doing this, even if it's just brisk walking a couple km. Get a podcast or youtube video playing, zone out and move your legs.

I've used a couple, Thumb-Key which was fun but didn't support emojis, and now OpenBoard which is pretty decent as a replacement

Worth your time
